"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." – Leviticus 20.13

Exodus 35.2 God demands we kill everyone who works on sabbath day

Deuteronomy 22:13-21 God demands that we kill girls who are not virgins when they marry

Actually read the bible, read it and you will find such horrible things and you choose to worship this god?

No, it is not right.

Is this monster worth worshipping?

Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)

They entered into a covenant to seek the Lord, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul; and everyone who would not seek the Lord, the God of Israel, was to be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. (2 Chronicles 15:12-13 NAB)

But if this charge is true (that she wasn't a virgin on her wedding night), and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst. (Deuteronomy 22:20-21 NAB)

Make ready to slaughter his sons for the guilt of their fathers; Lest they rise and posses the earth, and fill the breadth of the world with tyrants. (Isaiah 14:21 NAB)

"Then I heard the LORD say to the other men, "Follow him through the city and kill everyone whose forehead is not marked. Show no mercy; have no pity! Kill them all – old and young, girls and women and little children. But do not touch anyone with the mark. Begin your task right here at the Temple." So they began by killing the seventy leaders. "Defile the Temple!" the LORD commanded. "Fill its courtyards with the bodies of those you kill! Go!" So they went throughout the city and did as they were told." (Ezekiel 9:5-7 NLT)

Lol In the Bible it said it was ok that Lot got drunk and had sex with his Daughters lol...The Bible is not God. It is all man. Everytime I hear someone say it is the word of God I visualize a person taking dictation... nonsence! God is all Loving so please don't put human traits on a perfect and Loving Parent.

If you actually listened to Jesus, Jesus explained what the law really meant, Jesus explained the Sabbath that just because it is the sabbath should not stop someone from doing good, weather it be working to feed your family or give to the poor, he explained this by talking about circumcision on how if they circumsize people on the sabbath then why are they angry with him for doing good and helping people by curing and making people well. This arguement your stating is useless the bible nor any religious book can be understood by nick picking scriptures it even requires not only study of the book the scripture is from but it also requires some history background to it. I would explain more but i might hurt your eyes. but anyway to sum it up i'll quote something king solomon said

" Much is written, little is understood"

Biblical laws are a reflection of their times, just as they would find jaywalking tickets ridiculous.

Anyone who feels that the bible is the "inerrant word of god" or whatever, is extraordinarily mistaken.

Our culture changes, organically, around us all the time.

Laws have come to be since we have a large social structure that requires "rule by law".

So, I know your question is facetious, and trying to get a rise out of those known as Jews or Christians, but they have no monopoly on foolishness when it comes to interpreting so called sacred texts.

The interesting thing about religion is it's claim to have some moral compass and a leadership role in acting correctly...nothing could be further from the truth...

Religion REFLECTS our inherent genetically transmitted morality, it doesn't provide it.

Leviticus also says that eating pork is an abomination, and that children who don't respect their parents' traditions should be stoned to death.

No, I don't think it is right at all.

I like the things that Jesus said about how to treat other people - don't judge others, love your neighbor, in all things do to others as you would have them do to you, etc. I have no use for the rest of the bible.

It's a big problem for our species that people try to take rules set down by ignorant Bronze Age savages and apply them to modern life. I don't know if it's a lack of imagination, conscience, or reason that causes people to do this. Maybe all three.

Remember, God is the sovereign redeemer and creator, we are always at the Almighty's mercy.

Mankind can be so pompous!

example: I am standing on Earth, my friend is on a 10 story building looking down, he can see me but i look the size of an ant.
Multiply that a billion times over if my friend was able to reach the farthest end of the Universe; i would not even be noticed!

The Almighty is greater than the latter Universe since God created it yet He can still see me and listen to my prayers.
God's love crosses every boundry regardless as to the immense size!

Countess Bathory, I just love your selection of Bible verses. Did you deliberately choose to ignore Exodus 22:18 which says “Thou shalt not permit a witch to live.” OR are you actually a witch who would have us give up our license to kill. I think I better report your heresy to our local religious leaders, the NRA, and YA. You are a big meaney for wanting to take away God's sanctioned fun.
I'm actually going to look up the verses you cited and add them to my humor list.

The scriptures you have quoted are to be taken literally, and do seem harsh without knowing the facts behind them.
These were part of the Mosaic Law covenant given to the nation of Israel. They as a nation went into that Law covenant with full knowledge and willingness to comply with the laws and the consequences for disobeying those laws.

The Mosaic Law was a perfect law code impossible for imperfect humans to follow, it was designed that way to point out the need for a redeemer and to make the Jews well aware who to look for when Jesus was to arrive on the seen.
Jesus himself said he came to fulfill that law. (Matthew 5:17)
Who better than the perfect Son of God to fulfill a perfect Law and prove thereby who he was.
Just as the governments today have laws and penalties for breaking those laws, God gave the nation he chose a set of laws that were designed both to protect that nation and to have them demonstrate their EXCLUSIVE devotion to their God that proved over and over again when they were obedient that he could and would provide for them abundantly. Just as nations and governments do today, they make their citizens live by certain laws and exact allegiance to the government.
Because the nation knew the laws and the consequences if they chose to disobey those laws they were liable. Also the Mosaic Law made provision for those who did not deliberately break such laws and allowed for a lesser penalty.

So yes, to those who do not understand God's qualities of Love,Justice, Power, and Wisdom he may seem to be too demanding. However it was those very seemingly demanding qualities that made me search further and deeper into the Bible to gain an accurate understanding of Him and his son and God's purpose for this earth and mankind. As harsh as the laws seem to us now the nations around the Israelites were far more vicious and cruel. The laws had a reason behind them, the surrounding nations may or may not have.
I love Jehovah God and his son Jesus for the sacrifice they made on our behalf. Jehovah had to watch his son die a criminals death and Jesus suffered such a death out of his love for both his Father and us. (John 3:16) They have immense love for mankind and want to restore our home to the perfect state it was originally intended to be.
