I want to know how many 'Dwaars' or openings our physical body has through which it interacts with the outer atmosphere and surroundings. This strictly in terms of energy (spiritual and yogic) exchange/reception/dispersion by an individual. Somewhere I heard that our physical body is also referred as "Navadwarapuri", so I want to know what are those.

Hope to get some really insightful answers!

Thanks for the answers friends.
A small apprehension here, DO the palms and the soles also act as parts of the body to get and give energy? I ask this because palms are used while blessing and also in some theraputic forms like reiki, also the importance of "paada Seva" is much. Please guide me.

I agree with WillRogerswannabe`s answer.
But there is another one (11th) called Vidhruthi, which is top of our skull.

When and if we consider navel as a dwara, then only we have to consider the Vidruthi. Other wise there are only 9.

The 10th dwara - Naval is the dwara though which the SOUL ENTERS THE BODY. when it is formed in the womb of the mother. It is called FONTANEL - a membranous hole between the bones and infant or foetus

The 11th dwara - Vidhruthi , which again covered by CRANIUM - A membranous part of the skull that encloses the brain, though which the SOLE UNDERTAKES ITS OUTWARD JOURNEY (when the body is declared dead).

There are ten (10) openings to the body.
(9)Nine remain open and (1)one (The navel) has been closed.

Of these Nine (9) remaining openings, the most difficult to control is the one below the nose, called the mouth!
"Two ears, two eyes, two nostrils, (the overbearing) mouth,
the anal passage, and the reproductive opening. The navel has been closed."
* A True Teacher (a Fully Realized Human Being) can elaborate on these openings - the web is not a place for such discussion, if you will forgive me for suggesting.
--------------------
The Kursi (third eye or the "Eye of Wisdom") and the Arsh ( The crown of the head - 'The throne of God' is normally covered as a sign of respect) must be opened within man, but this must not be attempted without the petals of the heart blossoming into a most beautiful lotus.

...The heart must melt with Remembrance and Surrender - just as the flame melts the candle wax...

"Navadwarapuri": The nine gated city that houses the temple of God...... Better known as the human body and the human heart! (The human heart is where the temple must be built.)

**I will send you a web site address, for further study, but only upon request. My e-mail address is available.

'Magnolia Flora' - has a wonderful grasp of the nine gated city and the entry and the departure of the soul!
