I went to a small town Presbyterian Church on Christmas Eve.

When it came time to say the Lord's Prayer, I said, "forgive us our trespasses," because that is what Methodist people say.

But, they said something like, "debts" and debtors in the prayer instead.

Why do they say this?

Also, they said a prayer of confession and the minister said, you all are forgiven through the glory of Jesus.

I thought Presbyterians think only certain people get to heaven though, like predestination.

These people did not seem to believe that way though, which was nice and inclusive (just so you are sorry and ask for forgiveness, you're okay).

Also, we had communion and I think they said it was the bread of heaven and gave me enough of a big chunk to have a small snack, dipped in wine.

Why is it this way?

I enjoyed the service and it was beautiful, but I wondered about these differences.

It (along with the other dharmic religions of India - sikhism, Buddhism and jainism) seems to be the only religion wherein science and religion co-exist in peaceful harmony. It is the only religion that condones the Big bang and, although it is regarded as being suprstition, has strong scientific underpinnings.

This is open for all, but am really interested in hearing from the atheist on this.
Here is my opinion (1)Wicca/ Paganism first then (2)Churches of Christ, then (3)Jehovah's Witnesses, then the(4) Mormons.

This is just my opinion based on experience with these people.

This is a positive question wanting positive answers this is asking which ones produce the most positive people not the other way around please.
This is a chance to say something nice about those in your life.

If Atheism was a religion it would have been third on my list.

Doorbell rings, I'm not list'nin',
From my mouth, drool is glist'nin',
I'm happy -- although
My boss let me go --
Happily addicted to the Web.
All night long, I sit clicking,
Unaware time is ticking,
There's beard on my cheek,
Same clothes for a week,
Happily addicted to the Web!

Friends come by; they shake me, Saying, "Yo, man!
Don't you know tonight's the senior prom?"
With a listless shrug, I mutter "No, man;
I just discovered laugh-a-lot-dot-com!"
I don't phone, don't send faxes,
Don't go out, don't pay taxes,
Who cares if someday
They drag me away?
I'm happily addicted to the Web!

Happ-ilyyyyy, ad-dict-eeeed to the Weeeeeb!!! (Yeah!)

Jewish lady named Mrs. Rosenberg many years ago was stranded late one night at a fashionable resort - one that did not admit Jews. The desk clerk looked down at his book and said, "Sorry, no room. The hotel is full."

The Jewish lady said, "But your sign says that you have vacancies."

The desk clerk stammered and then said curtly, "You know that we do not admit Jews. Now if you will try the other side of town..."

Mrs. Rosenberg stiffened noticeable and said, "I'll have you know I converted to your religion."

The desk clerk said, "Oh, yeah, let me give you a little test. How was Jesus born?"

Mrs. Rosenberg replied, "He was born to a virgin named Mary in a little town called Bethlehem."

"Very good," replied the hotel clerk. "Tell me more."

Mrs. Rosenberg replied, "He was born in a manger."

"That's right," said the hotel clerk. "And why was he born in a manger?"

Mrs. Rosenberg said loudly, "Because a jerk like you in the hotel wouldn't give a Jewish lady a room for the night!"

If Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.", why then do Catholics pray to angels and the saints?

Are Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses Christian? They follow the bible and stuff, but I know they are much more different and I am pretty sure they aren't included in the Protestant side of Christianity. Is this right?

I know that they all basically believe we were born into sin and that Jesus died for our sins. But what makes them unique and different from one another? I think having answers to this might help me decide which Church I would like to belong to.

Asking the top two questions above, I am doubtful I will find a reasonable answer to these questions. Spare me the answer of it is up to me to decide because I already know that. It is a question with a point. How can mankind say that one God is right and the other one is wrong? How the hell would you know, really how would you know...?
