Are Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses Christian? They follow the bible and stuff, but I know they are much more different and I am pretty sure they aren't included in the Protestant side of Christianity. Is this right?

Thank you so much for your answers. I had a difficult time choosing the best answer. For the most part you were all thorough. I hope I didn't offend anyone. I just wasn't sure.

First...I can name my goldfish Jesus.. but the name does not infer deity.

Let's look at some differences..

1 - Christians believe Jesus rose from the grave in physical form - JW dont.

2 - Christians teach Jesus is incarnate and eternal, not a created being - Mormons teach he is created and brother with lucifer. JW don't believe He is eternal - but was Arch Angel Michael before coming to earth.

3 - Mormons teach "as Man is, god once was , and as god is, man shall be" - in other words... you too can become a god of your own little planet. Their god comes from Koleb. Guess what Christians have to say about that ?

4 - Witnesses give WatchTower full authority of a prophet. Only problem...ask them how MANY times their organization has declared Jesus will return/has already returned. More than once...and to date... no success with their date selections.

Why go on and on about the rest. In just a few moments, we've exposed enough flaws to understand why the traditional Christian can not acccept their teachings as valid.

I am a Jehovah's Witness and I am Christian. We may not be like the tradition mainstream churches but that still means that Jehovah's Witnesses are Christian.

We honour God's name, Jehovah.

We preach the kingdom of heaven that will replace all other kingdoms on earth as prophesied in Daniel 2:44

We recognise that Jesus Christ will be the king over the earth and will co-rule with 144,000 annointed as told in Revelation.

Millions of the meek will inherit the earth and make it into a paradise as God intended when he created the earth. Satan and the wicked will be cut off from the earth forever.

We are no part of this world political and military influences.

We recognise that Satan is ruler of this present system of things who is in control of the political, commerce and media aspects of this world. 2 Corinthians 4:4 & John 5:19

Only Jehovah God's Kingdom will solve humanities problems world wide forever, no human government ever can.

All of this is from the teachings of God's inspired word the Bible. Yes, Jehovah is our God and His begotten Son Jesus Christ is the head of our congregation.
We are Christian.

JW's are a Christian sect. An offshoot from another religion.
And even then to say they are Christian is stretching it as while they Do believe in Jesus as paying for the sins of man etc, they also believe the only way the great majority can receive the benefits is by going through the Watchtower, which demeans the entire concept of the sacrifice.
I.e.
If the only way to get to Jesus is to go through the Watchtower, then before they are Christians they are followers of the Watchtower.

I'm not sure if Peter was referring to jw's or not...
but they do protest against the Church.
In fact the Organization spends a great deal of time knocking all other religions, the Catholic Church included.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians.

People make the mistake of defining a Christian as someone who believes in the trinity.

But really, a Christian is a "follower of Christ".

Many groups claim to be Christian though, but not all really do follow his footsteps.

It has been a while since I saw this question.

For the record, Jehovah's Witnesses are true Christians. We follow closely only what is contained in the Bible for worshipers of Jehovah the true God. (Psalms 83:18) We are different from other religions claiming to be Christian in that we refuse to accept any doctrines of man mixing in with pure worship. This matches the way of 1st century Christians.

Yes, Jehovah's Witnesses are Christian.

The thing about Christendom, their doctrines are not Biblical at all and most doctrines come from men.

Man --- God is a Trinity
Bible --- One God the Father (1 Cor. 8:4-6)

Man ---Jesus is God
Bible ---Jesus says his father is the only true God (John 17:3)
(John 1:1 was NOT translated to "Word as God" first http://copticjohn.com/ )

Man --- Believers goto Heaven
Bible --- Few Chosen to goto Heaven. (Matthew 22:14) Resurrection will take place in the final hour, which means those sleep in death are not in Heaven (John 5:28,29) People are still on earth after Armageddon (Revelation Chapter 20)

Man --- Soul is Immortal
Bible --- Soul dies (Ezekiel 18:4)

I can go on and on but it just shows how Christendom doctrines are not biblical.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians. They believe that Jesus is the Son of God who gave his life so that our sins could be forgiven.

"For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. " -- John 3:16

Jehovah's Witnesses base their beliefs solely on the Bible. They study it daily with sincerity. They really try to apply in their lives what they've learnt and to manifest the fruitage of the spirit.

"On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. " -- Galatians 5:22,23

Jehovah's Witnesses are well known for their preaching work. Jesus told his disciples to spread the good news of the Kingdom. So, Jehovah's Witnesses take this responsibility very seriously.

"Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit." -- Matthew 28:19
