This is directed towards any variety of christian really, (and yes, this includes catholics, mormons and jehovas witnesses)

What would you say if someone came up to you and said that they were part of a group that was a "perfected" variety of your kind of christianity (lutheran, baptist, catholic, ect, whichever applies to you) and that they were Jewish and believed in the same things you did, except that they did not believe that Jesus was the Son of God, or the Messiah or a prophet or anything remotely like that. that in fact, they did not believe he ever even actually existed.

how would you react? remember that in this hypothetical, they are going around teaching that it is acceptable to be as you believe, but minus giving Jesus any signifigance or recognition?

Like I have a general idea of what being a baptist means and a methodist after reading around online, but I'm not sure what being Presbyterian means. Like what is unique to that group?

Can you direct me to any JW literature that applauds the Puritans for their nation-wide stance against pagan customs, especially those connected to Christmas? In 1644 the Puritan group in Britain's Parliament brought in laws to ban Christmas. They objected to the binge-drinking and debauchery, even to Christ'mas' - changing it to Christ tide. The immorality of wassailing and wenching were thrown out along with decking the halls with holly. Soldiers patrolled London to seize supplies of suspect festive fare being hoarded. For 18 years, Britain had no Christmas, and that was official!

Surely the JWs see the hand of God at work in the Puritans? Surely God blessed them and the nation for this immense governmental stance against unholy practices? Do any JWs reading this agree?

How is your Christmas going so far? Anything happen to you already? I sure know I did!

I thought this Christmas would be the most depressing christmas of all with hidden tears. No not because of the presents, my cat. I lost her roughly 3 to 4 days ago and thought I'd never see her again, by the way her name is Lunar :) She came back this morning at 3:30am the way she always does; climbing the screen door. How is yours going? Anything fulfilling your day already? Tell me!! I'm sure into Christmas this year! :D

Happy holidays,
Angelina

My husband converted to Messianic Judaism after we separated. We are still very close. I think the religion is the only healthy thing he has aver done. But I feel stupid when I ask questions. I left him because of his arrogance:

What is a Messianic Jew?
Do they celebrate Christmas or Hannuka?

Christmas with the family - the only way to endure it is to drink oneself into a paraletic blob.

After a little tweaking of my wicker handbasket/hutch combo, I've managed to weave myself a little sleigh, and I'm raring to try it out.

Does anybody wanna come along on yet another hell-in-a-handbasket tour? Feel free to bring your own wicker vehicles, although there may be some surprises. It IS Christmas after all.

Sunblock and bran muffins are a must. I think perhaps just bring some batter, cos it's hot enough to bake down there.

My aunt has just given me a set of paint brushes for Christmas. I have never indicated to her that I have any interest in DIY or decorating, and no one (to my knowledge) has ever advised her of this either.
I am trying to devise a suitable punishment. I have considered making ice cubes out of urine for her gin and tonics.

Do you still go to the trouble of making those special things ? I used to make a gingerbread house every year, but stopped when my kids grew up. Now, I have a little grand-daughter and I've decided to start again...its uch fun and the kids love them. Do you still go to the trouble of making special foods, or does the freezer section at the grocery store seem more attractive these days?
