Maybe this post will help :
Hath God Said ???
Out of all denominations, there are those having a pure heart toward God : The elect, that is walking in Truth and Faith. I plea with the body of Christ to walk in newness of Spirit, and not the traditions and doctrines of man.
Those that have an ear to hear : Let them hear what
the Spirit is saying to the church ...
From the fall of Eden, Satan has been using deceit to
destroy the TRUTH of God. Every denomination has
their own separation from Truth. Some more than
others, but all are polluted with " doctrines " of
MAN.
The FIRST denomination : The denomination of the Serpent !
Eve believed the lie of Satan, which perverted the
Truth.
Genesis 2:16,17 And the Lord God commanded the man,
saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest
freely eat : But of the tree of the knowledge of good
and evil, thou shalt not eat of it : For in the day
that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Genesis 3:1-6 Now the Serpent was more subtle than
any beast of the field which the Lord God had made.
And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye
shall not eat of every tree of the garden ??? And the
woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit
of the trees of the garden : But of the fruit of the
tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath
said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch
it, lest ye die.
Note : Eve added to the Word when she said : "
neither shall ye touch ".
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not
surely die : for God doth know that in the day ye eat
thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall
be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Note : Satan perverted Gods Truth, using enticement,
an enticement to be as a god.
And when the woman saw that the tree was good for
food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree
to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit
thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband
with her ; and he did eat.
Thus, the first denomination of the Serpent. Using
the Word of God and perverting it. Eve believed the
perverting. And since then, people have been
listening to "other voices" other than the voice of
the Spirit of God.
Some are saying : This is the way; some are saying ,
No, this is the way.
Jesus said : I AM the way , the Truth, and the Life ;
No man cometh to the Father except through Me !
Well, Satan wasn't through with perverting the Truth. After the disciples received Power from
on high, the Comforter, The Spirit of Truth, Satan began an attack to those weak in the flesh,
and enticed them with another way of looking at things ( hath God said ). The result was heretics
which changed the Truth into a lie, breaking away from The Way, establishing their own way, thus
creating another denomination. And we see this throughout the history of Christianity.
1 st. Corinthians 1 : 10 - 13 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus, that
ye speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you ; but that ye be perfectly
joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it hath been declared unto me
that there are contentions among you. Now this I say, that every one of you saith ; I am of
Paul ; and I of Apollos : and I of Cephas ; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided : Was Paul
crucified for you ? Or were ye baptized in the name of Paul ?
Even the disciples were having problems with people trying to promote : " I belong to THIS church,
This way of teaching, This way of believing ". Hath God said ?
Now I could go into the history of ALL denominations, when they came forth, and from what doctrinal
" tree " they came from, but if I did, this would be too long of a post to hold your attention, so,
I will leave that up to you, but encourage you to dig deep, and find where your " Hath God said "
came from.
Revelations 18 : 1 - 4 And after these things I saw another angel come down from
heaven, having great power ; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he
cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen,
and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a
cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of
the wrath of her FORNICATION, and the kings of the earth have committed FORNICATION
with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her
delicacies. AND I HEARD ANOTHER VOICE FROM HEAVEN, SAYING, Come out of her MY
PEOPLE, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
Saints, the time is short ! There isn't much more time to gain the " water of the
Word ", The revelations of Gods mind ! The Spirit of Truth should be your teacher,
Not the doctrines of men...! Dig into the Word and allow the Spirit of Truth lead
you into ALL Truth...
Come out from under the stronghold of the denominations and doctrines of man ...And hear what the Spirit is saying to mankind.

The problem with studying religions is that you are learning only the theory - Faith, on the other hand, is an experience - a gift. You won't find Faith in books on theology.
I did the same as you when I was in my twenties, the more I read about other religions, the more confused I became as well. It is good to know about different religions but as you say, they all have their own "truth" and also like you I went through a period when I lost any belief at all because of this. I look back on it as a time when I was in a black hole and I would never want to feel like that again. I regained my faith when I simply prayed to a God I no longer believed in, that He would "help my unbelief". Religions are all man made - even those that say they aren't - and interpretations of the Bible are all dependant on the particular slant of the particular denomination. All we can do as individuals is build up our own relationship with God and pray that He will lead us.

No. You have not looked hard enough. Does it make sense that God would not have provided a way He approved of to be worshiped? Especially sense worship is the only thing we can give Him He does not already own.
This does not mean the amount of worshipers would be large. In fact, quite small. (Matt. 7:13-14) Many false religions will come up claiming to be the true one but by what they teach and how they act we could tell them. (Matt. 7:15-16)
One of the best ways to tell is found in John 13:35; 15:12 where Jesus said, "by this you will know that you are my disciples, that you have love among yourselves." The Philippians were advised to "let their love abound, with accurate knowledge and full discernment." (Philip. 1:9) This is "principled love" or love based on righteous principles. That would cause them to all to "speak in agreement". (1Corin. 1:10) That is where ever you go in the world you would find brothers and sisters in the faith teaching the same way and manner.
Their teachings would go strictly by the Bible principles.
It is out there. I could tell you which one but that would be cheating. It is required that each one of us decide on their own whom they will serve. We all must make that choice soon. It means our very lives.

No, stay with Orthodox Christianity. Atheism is one of the greatest philosophical frauds known to the history of philosophy. Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to heaven and eternal bliss. Christ and Orthodoxy, have produced countless millions of saints throughout history. ORTHODOXY WORKS. Stay with the truth. All other religions are man-made and lead nowhere. They are demonic lies.
The worlds foremost atheistic philisopher, Anthony Flew, has recently renounced atheism. Read his recent book "Why the Worlds Most Netorious Atheist Changed his Mind," by Flew.
Anthony is the father of the modern atheist movement, and even he has realized atheism is pure bunk.

if you can say this then I think you might want to either redefine "proper investigation" or read a little more carefully.
Judaism for one, does NOT say its exclusively correct. it does not say it's the only true path.
Judaism does not teach eternal punishment or any such thing for non-believers, we leave that up to God. God is Just, so that automatically excludes an infinite punishment.
I am pretty sure a large amount of other world religions other than christianity(and its varietys) and islam, do not claim to be exclusively correct.
its partially a matter of asking the right questions.
what do YOU believe? what do you feel is right? what SOUNDS right, in your gut? practically all religions DO have common threads, if you look to see them, and strip off the nonsense and bias.
I do not mean my first section of this in an insulting way. but I reccomend giving more attention to each one and really try to understand what and why they believe what they do. try to understand where that viewpoint is coming from, ect.
hopefully this is helpful in some way.

Religion is for people who are trying to keep from going to hell. Spirituality is for people who have already been there.
Fear and doom and suffering are sure signs of organized name brand religion and other garbage made up by man. Just come from a place of love and you'll never go wrong and you'll never be lost. Being spiritual can be a fine path to try.
Remember, God is a PERFECT being. A perfect being doesn't "need" anything from us, LOL. Silly ideas like that only come from man.

I was also at one time of my life confused, and I seeked other faiths beleifs and churches, Protestantism, Roman Catholicism, and all the "ism" including Islam etc...
Untill I met one day a convert from protestantism to Orthodoxy, when she learned that I came from Antioch she cried "... I must thank you for preserving this faith for 2 thousand years, enduring all kind of persecutions and then passed it down to us unaltered..."
At that moment it was like a brick fell down from Heaven unto my head, so off I went with my journey into the Church that I was baptized in but didnt know much about.
My young brother, Satan is at work days and nights trying to deceive the flock of the LORD, yes of course, all will claim that they have the truth but none would measure up to that claim except the Orthodox Church, I say this after studying and not out of prejudice.
Confusion? yes, all one has to do is to read those posts, confusions and lies are the signs of satan, make no mistake about it that Satan is the greatest lier no wonder why he was called the father of lies in the bible...how do you think would satan come and deceive many...by appearing with red coat and little spikes sticking out of his head...no, then everybody would know him...he comes in the sheep skin (Matthew 7:15
They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves),speaks things that we would accept plant the seed of doubt and creat confusion and say good things so he can deceive but the good things here are nothing but the bait on the hook.
You want to know that satan exist, seek GOD, HIS Church which is HIS Body ( 1 Corinthians 12:27...Now ye are the body of Christ).
My brother, the Holy Orthodox Church put "Criteria" to the truth and that is ...( what had been taught from the "Beginning", by "everybody", and "every where")
"beginning" is what had been taught from the beginning by the Apostles, "everybody" is what had been taught by everybody in the Church, and "every where" is what had been taught in the Orthodox Church "every where".
As a matter of fact the Church is the truth(1 Timothy 3:15But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth)
So measure everything up to those three, if one doesnt fit, then, throw it out, it is not of GOD.
Hold on to the teaching that it was passed down to you from the Orthodox Church since the orthodox Church is the only one who can claim that she is the first church that it was established by CHRIST and HIS Apostles, ( check links included for that).
Finally now my brother, I cant teach you every thing on line and certaintly not on one post, therfore you must go to the Orthodox Church and learn there from the preist and also, you study and search and then ask other faithful in the Church.
God Bless you †

Nobody should tell you if you're on the right track or not. Religion - or lack of religion - should be a personal choice. It's good that you're exploring all the options. Obviously the conclusion you come to will be a well thought out one, and it will be the right one for you.

Bro first off, It's all up to you and what you want/feel.
Make your decision now. Do you believe in hell/heaven?
If yes then pick a religion. Pick whatever feels the most logical and gives that weird feeling. It's up to you to go with whatever religion you like.
If not then don't pick a religion. Squeeze all you can from life. Enjoy as much of it as you can.
This all from my point of view and my oppinions.
If I was some hardcore religious guy, I'd say your decision to be athiest is completely "not right". And you should join this X religion.
