Christmas with the family - the only way to endure it is to drink oneself into a paraletic blob.

Why do some people have to become so pious, reverent and preachy whenever anyone mentions booze?
I'm not shooting crack by the christmas tree, I'm glugging cava and having fun.

At which point did I indicate that I didn't want to hear what Christians have to say?
Are you assuming thats what I meant by 'pious, reverent and preachy'? Oh dear.

I'm not with you at all. Seems like you have issues with your family. I on the other hand, get along with mine just fine.

Ahhh I see you've met my family?

Family that _marvellous_ institution in which one is expected to "put up" with the most horrid behaviour solely based on some supposed biological connection.

OTOH I rarely drink. Because _IF_ I ever 'loose it' I want people not to think it was the drink talking.

David H has a good point there buddy ......... they appear to be stressing you into an early grave. I'm a touch lucky ....... i don't do big family dinners as apparently i'm the black sheep. Me, my hubbie and my 3 little ones had a fab christmas though. No booze here. You need to find your happy spot.

happy holidays♥

Christmas at my place is basically a dozen paralytic blobs sitting round a table...

...I worked all day and stayed sober... (am drinking beer now though)

I imagine that be a pleasurable experience for certain individuals. Are you role playing a certain personal hero? Now would be the best time to do so.

All of the Heathen holidays are a bit frantic. If it is that big a problem, it would seem that you should play hooky. I canceled my participation in the festivities many years ago.

I think it is just an excuse to drink..

Don't worry, I am not blaming you.as I am guilty myself..just think that it may be more about the alcohol than actually about the family.

And you must realize that you may miss some of their little annoyances after they die.

If you had to spend the day with my family, you'd be begging for a stiff drink too.
