I think that your question has been answered pretty comprehensively, with enough Bible quotes for me not to put any!
Part of following Jesus and being a Christian, is living a life of freedom in Him! So it is up to the individual and their conscience before Jesus, as to whether or not alcohol is consumed. A little will not harm, because a little will not take away a person's faculties and ability to make good decisions before Jesus!
I had not drunk alcohol for over twenty years, personal choice because I don't like seeing the effects on people who do! However, this year someone gave me a bottle of a liquer chocolate orange drink which I had a small glass of last night. I actually didn't enjoy it very much!
My own personal belief is that it is far better to be 'drunk in The Holy Spirit'! It is not harmful to anyone, doesn't make me look a fool and is far more fun!!!
God's Blessings and Peace be upon you all at Christmas and in the coming year!
Love in Jesus,
Margi

It is permitted, but with everything:
1- Drink in measures.. Know your limits, and stay below
2- Be carefull for addiction. I've almost been an alcohol addict before. when you start feeling the urge to get more, it's ok to drink on special occasions like holidays, but it's not during the normal day to day.
If you can drink Alcohol just like you'd enjoy eating a candy, or piece of cake, I find no fault in it.
Science even says that one or two glasses of red wine per week are very healthy!

not a must but you should never get drunk.
What God commands Christians regarding alcohol is to avoid drunkenness (Ephesians 5:18).
The Bible condemns drunkenness and its effects (Proverbs 23:29-35).
Christians are also commanded to not allow their bodies to be “mastered” by anything (1 Corinthians 6:12; 2 Peter 2:19).
Drinking alcohol in excess is undeniably addictive.
Scripture also forbids a Christian from doing anything that might offend other Christians or might encourage them to sin against their conscience (1 Corinthians 8:9-13).
In light of these principles, it would be extremely difficult for any Christian to say he is drinking alcohol to the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).
Alcohol, consumed in small quantities, is neither harmful or addictive. In fact, some doctors advocate drinking small amounts of red wine for its health benefits, especially for the heart. Consumption of small quantities of alcohol is a matter of Christian freedom. Drunkenness and addiction are sin.

Alcohol is allowed by the Christians for celebrating, like the wine for example. It isn't, however, a must to drink. It's a choice. Isn't it written in one of the letters that we shall not be separated by our beliefs about the food? If you don't eat something to thank God it is good and if you eat it to thank God it's good as well. Just don't get drunk: moderation is the key.

According to my interpretation of the bible, drinking in moderation is permitted. However, there are some denominations and some individual believers who have concluded that drinking alcohol is a sin. I am not sure why they have concluded this.

You don't have to, but you can if you like. Christ himself drank wine. There is no ban on drinking alcohol in the Bible, just must be done in moderation.
