than in either the new testament or the tanakh?

me: are you suggesting that there were no scientific advances between 0 and 640 ad. (which is clearly untrue)? or are you only suggesting that any scientific discoveries made during almost seven hundred years were unknown in the arab world? (i guess you would be the expert on that).

Three points in this season of good will ...

1. Your question recognizes scientific errors in the Koran; you ask simply why it has fewer errors than the Christian or Jewish holy books. Most of your Answerers - not all - deny that there are any errors in the Koran, let alone fewer and let alone scientific, or deny that any of the holy books contain any truth (but only delusion) or that the Jewish and/or Christian writings contain anything but truth. Since most of your Answerers reject the assumptions of your Question, I don't think they'll throw light on it.

2. It's really quite hard for anybody who does accept that any or all of the holy books contain errors to compute (in order to explain) the comparative ratios of error in a way that will help you if you don't enumerate and specify what errors you yourself think there are. How can we work out the comparative ratios, let alone explain them, if we can't be sure we're all counting the same things as errors ?

3. 'Error' or even 'scientific error' is not a completely straightforward idea. Someone may hold that the Book of Genesis, say, is erroneous if taken literally but deeply true if taken as a picture-story.

Your question is interesting but I really think you need to do a bit more work on it before it can launch a useful discussion.

As salaamu 'alaikym, my friend.

Insha'allah, the Holy Qur'an is the revealed Word of Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala as the same was delivered to Muhammad (sallaahu 'alaihi wasallaam) by the angel Jibriil ('alaihi salaam).

There have been many a study performed investigating the "science" of the Holy Qur'an, which has all been proven to be suprisingly accurate and in keeping with our current understandings. For more information regarding this please go to http://www.islamreligion.com .

The Holy Qur'an as been maintained without corruption, editing or alteration since it revelation up to this present day and time. This can not be said as true regarding any other of the holy books of other faiths such as the Torah, or the injels/Gospels of the New Testament, etc.

Insha'Allah, the Word og God/YHWH/Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala is and always will be correct and true. It can not be otherwise as He can not be false. Alhumduliallah!

Ma'a salaam.

Couldn't tell you because I wasn't the one to write the Qur'an and don't know how much truth is actually in it or not. The majority of concepts held by ancient society turned out to be untrue and the true nature they did have seems to be called false nowadays. What to believe? I guess the for the masses all that which is self-serving.

Well the Koran says there are like 360 something bones in the body....umm medicine hasn't found that many. They also say there's like 7 or 8 layers in the earth's crust, there isn't. Actually Discover Magazine did a big thing on this in like September and they point out loads of errors in Koran. It's called Science vs. Islam check it out on their site.

Oh come on. The thing says the Sun sets in a muddy spring, Allah made man out of mud, dust, a clot, or water (I guess Allah couldn't remember which), and that stars are going to fall from the sky. Allah also tells Mohammad to check the sky for cracks.

Get over it. There is absolutely no scientific knowledge in it.

The Koran is shorter and more recent and yes younger than the Bible but it doesnt make it more believable just because its younger and all. And because of this it may not be as true.

The Bible is older, powerful and people do agree that it has alot of truth and science has agreed with many parts of the Bible (although not all).

I believe the quran has errors alright! Too many too mention and too many that go against right and wrong- just look at todays world!

I love the "because the Koran is more recent" line - as if there were massive scientific advances, still true today, between 0 and 610 CE!!!

I'd say because the Quran is the unchanged word of God

Because there are fewer words in the Qu'ran thus there are less places that it can be wrong.

Though in terms of an errors per words it'd probably be about as error filled as the bible.

There are no "scientific errors" in the Bible. Anyone who claims that there are is just wrong about what the Bible teaches.
