Soul=Life
Gen.2:7 "And Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul. "
"For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten."-- Ecc. 9:5
"All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in She′ol, the place to which you are going." Ecc. 9:10
Ezekiel 18:3 says it best: "The soul that is sinning—it itself will die."
"Mortal and destructible. On the other hand, Matthew 10:28 states that God “can destroy both soul [psy·khen′] and body in Gehenna.” This shows that psy·khe′ does not refer to something immortal or indestructible. There is, in fact, not one case in the entire Scriptures, Hebrew and Greek, in which the words ne′phesh or psy·khe′ are modified by terms such as immortal, indestructible, imperishable, deathless, or the like. (See IMMORTALITY; INCORRUPTION.) On the other hand, there are scores of texts in the Hebrew and Greek Scriptures that speak of the ne′phesh or psy·khe′ (soul) as mortal and subject to death (Ge 19:19, 20; Nu 23:10; Jos 2:13, 14; Jg 5:18; 16:16, 30; 1Ki 20:31, 32; Ps 22:29; Eze 18:4, 20; Mt 2:20; 26:38; Mr 3:4; Heb 10:39; Jas 5:20); as dying, being “cut off” or destroyed (Ge 17:14; Ex 12:15; Le 7:20; 23:29; Jos 10:28-39; Ps 78:50; Eze 13:19; 22:27; Ac 3:23; Re 8:9; 16:3), whether by sword (Jos 10:37; Eze 33:6) or by suffocation (Job 7:15), or being in danger of death due to drowning (Jon 2:5); and also as going down into the pit or into Sheol (Job 33:22; Ps 89:48) or being delivered therefrom (Ps 16:10; 30:3; 49:15; Pr 23:14)." To see a soul, look in a full length mirror. You cant do that when your placed in a coffin, and laid out like Adam was before the spirit from God made him a living soul, Eccl.3:19-21; 12:7; We are promised a Savior in Christ Jesus.
1Cor.15:22-28,51-53; As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
Heb.9:27; It is appointed unto man once to die and after this the judgement.
John 5:26-29;
Acts 17:31; 24:15;
Dan.12:2; Isa.26:19; 2Cor.5:10;
Psm.104:29,30; Rom.14:9-12; Philip.2:5,9-12;
Matt.19:28 [ Eze.37:12-14 ]; Rev.20:1-6,12,13; The heavenly Rev.3:12; are with Jesus at his 2nd coming to resurrect the earthly back to Abel, for the new heavens and the new earth 2Pet.3:13; Rev.21:1-5;

Soul is immortal because it is part of God who is immortal
Death is more like sleeping so when you die your soul feels like when you are dreaming
the verses from the Quran
# It is Allah Who takes away the souls at the time of their death, and those that die not during their sleep. He keeps those (souls) for which He has ordained death and sends the rest for a term appointed. Verily, in this are signs for a people who think deeply.
# And they ask you about the soul. Say: The soul is one of the commands of my Lord, and you are not given aught of knowledge but a little.

Much of the Jewish concepts of souls are not Scripture-based at all, but derive from commentary and Kaballah. One concept is that the soul of the concious person (the Neshamah) is reincarnated in subsequent people.

Your soul lives forever.....it is our mind, our will, and our emotions (our heart, (not physical heart)......When we die, our soul lives on....whether it be with God...or elsewhere. You have to protect your soul while we are here on Earth....protect what goes into your soul....by protecting what goes into your mind, and what we allow ourselves to see. We have physical bodies while we are here on Earth...but our souls are inside our bodies. The Bible says our souls will go to heaven if we asked Jesus into our hearts...John 3:16. If you accept Jesus as your personal Savior, you will have everlasting life...that everlasting life is with God.....our souls go to be with the Lord when we die....the Bible says to be abscent from the body means to be present with the Lord... Hope this helps...

Only God knows what is the soul.
When the body dies, the soul go either to eternal happiness in heaven or eternal torture in hell.
