i've noticed that many people come online and ask questions about pornography... They would usually ask "Is this real"?? So why do they ask if a fiction is real or not? Sex is something hidden, and not open to public view, so some people are confused about reality and fiction.

Not sure, but they are kind of hoping that it's real...Am i correct?

in this article, this woman "credits god" for stopping a shooter from killing even more people. well, does that mean god is responsible for letting the guy kill those people? why didn't god get someone else to stop him BEFORE he killed those people??? why does god get credit for stopping the shooter after killing people, but doesn't get the blame for letting those people get killed, ESPECIALLY since those people were killed in god's own home (the church)?????

First, science and evolution do not disprove religion, thats absurd. Evolution is God and God is evolution, how bout that for both sides.

But 2 my point, most of you atagonists use science to try to prove your hyposthesis that there is no God, actually quite the wrong considering the greatest scientist's that ever lived believed in a higher entity, Einstein and Hawking. I did not say religion for you that try to be slick, I said they believe in a higher entity. So my question is, how do you conclude, based on your interpretation of reality, that we somehow came from nothing? Isnt that impossible, I mean you try to use science against us, yet the very basis of your thinking contradicts your own hypothesis'. Something cant come from nothing, everything is cause and effect so your own hypothesis is flawed? And please dont use infinity to somehow prove your point, infinite values do not exist in this universe. Einstein realized that, so are you saying you're smarter than him?

I lived 30 years in Belfast with daily bombings and shootings (committed by Christian - both Catholic and Protestant).

I have been within 30 meters of large bombs going off and I have been shot at once and was standing beside a friend as he was shot 3 times in the face and neck. These are only a few of many lifethreatening experiences that I dealt with on a daily basis. I guess these were my foxholes. Never once did I cry out for God. I acted instinctively. I had no opportunity to think about a God. My body took over - genetic impulses for survival drove a fight or flight system and that was all that happened.

So, is the old addage that there are no atheists in a foxhole simply wishful thinking on their part?

In 1948, most people in the land that is now called Israel were Arab Muslims. The majority of Jews who were there had immigrated to the land, many illegally in support of the Zionist movement to reclaim the land and establish a Jewish state.
Supposedly, the Christian God is the father of ALL humans, and loves them equally, offering each one an opportunity to sit by his side eternally, right?
So why is it that when the question of Israel comes up, somehow Christian fundies bring up nonsense about how Jews are the chosen people and God has promised to destroy their enemies? It's as if Christians revert to the Old Testement God on this issue, a tribal God that Israelites rallied behind w/ the Ark and went into battle against rival Gods.
So which is it? A universal God or a tribal God?

Is there a general consensus of which animals represent the 4 elements (fire, air, earth, water)? Maybe from historical or mythical writings? Since fire and air are masculine...and earth and water are feminine, I would guess the animals would share those masculine or feminine qualities also. thanks for any input! :)

I'm not trying to offend anyone, I have respect for other people's traditions but why is there such a theme of uninformed people. I understand you celebrate the birth of christ on Dec. 25'th. What I don't understand is that people still deny the fact, and it is a fact, that before christianity Romans held a festival on December 25 called Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, the birthday of the unconquered sun , gods from other religions had birthdays on december 25'th and Pagans celebrated the winter solstice in late December. Do you think this is some kind of coincidence or do you just flat out deny it? If you do deny, please look up Natalis Solis Invicti and Yule. By the way I'm not a pagan trying to "steal" your christmas as many of you think I just study history and wondering why more poeple don't also look into things more. Are there any christians that are aware of this and accept it as being true.

The FACTS ---

Human life does NOT begin at "conception," (fertilization) any more than is the case with any other species of plants or animals. The human reproductive process consists of three stages, and different entities in each: RPEs -- Reproductive-Process Entities. ALL of which are human, unique, and LIVING *potential* people.

People (or "human beings") exist only from BIRTH on. The RPEs before that are: (1) gametes (sperm & ova), (2) zygotes, (3) embryos, and (4) fetuses. No fewer than a **quadrillion** potential people are electively aborted DAILY, worldwide -- by men. While the doltish and ignorant (and brainwashed-by-disinformation) Anti-Choicers look the other way and whistle a tune. WHILE hypocritically seeking to make life miserable for over a million girls and women a year in the USA in their support of a loathsome agenda that would FORCE them to gestate UNwanted pregnancies to term, against their will. Wouldn't the world kind of fall apart? As far as I know, Buddhist monks don't work jobs, and they have to beg for the one meal they eat a day.

I'm just curious to see the replies, I'm not "dissing" Buddhism by any means.

He said no presents - should I decline to accept the gift? I am afraid he was too extravagant. Or if I don't decline the gift then I want to get him something nice but I don't know him very well. He has a huge HO train set up in his basesment. Takes up a whole 8x10 room. He has a really nice telescope. He races RC boats. He has about 1,000 DVDs. I don't mind spending the money (up to $100.00) but I have no idea what to get him. I don't want to go overboard but I don't want to buy him some cheap trinket either. He doesn't wear watches or jewelry. Already said "Don't get me any clothes". HELP! Any suggestions on what I should get this really wonderful guy for Christmas?
