Deuteronomy 5:7-9
"You shall have no other gods before me me."
"You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
"You shall not bow down to them or worship them;for I the Lord your God, am a jealous God,punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me.

In fire? Ice? Some other horrible way? And what do you think will be the reason for this and how soon?

I'm curious.

In forums, I notice that many people use the name 'Anonymous' or 'anon' etc when they are writing ridiculous, obscene answers or comments. Why not use a screen name or at least make a name up if you don't want to give your real name? Better yet, who cares if you use your real first name - you're not the only 'John' or 'Mary' in the world...

I just wonder... do these people feel that when others in the forum then 'attack' them for their answers, that they are less affected by this 'attack' because they do not have a 'name' and thus no 'identity' (whoever false it may be) to speak?

I often wonder. Any insights would be great :)

If Christians acknowledge that God is omniscient, why do they feel it is within their capacity as lowly human beings to change the will of God?

Surely as Christians, you must admit that it is impossible to divine the Will of God. To do so would be no different from an ant attempting to undertand Einstein's theory of relativity: our intellects do not permit of such an understanding. Yet the premise of prayer is to reason with God. Explain: How would this be different from an ant attempting to sway Einstein from his ideas on physics? Prayer is an admission of the prayer that he is on some comparable plain of intellect as God, that his reasoning could somehow enlighten God and move him from his original decision to allow, for example, Alan to die of cancer. This arrogance should surely be considered heresy. But even the Spanish Inquisition failed to notice this, and never to my knowledge tortured or sentenced to death any man, woman or child for the crime of prayer. Why?

After all its written metaphors and parabells. For example the bible says if you feel lust you should stab out your own eye. It doesn't mean you'll never feel lust nor that you must stab out your eye. It says if you over indugle(not faithful to one person) and let it consume your mind it is as bad as giving up a part of your body.

I know I've riled a lot of people with this question, but the time is short because someone reported me for "spreading hatred." Could you look at this question and let me know if you have the data to either support or refute my suspicion? Thanks!

And how are you supposed to know which bits are which? For a book written or inspired by god, he didn't do a very good job now did he? Surely he must have anticipated these problems?

Why do the Catholic's have the Vatican? What is the purpose of Vatican City? Is it a Christian belief? Or a Catholic belief?
If it is a Christian belief, how come the Protestants don't have a Vatican? They are Christian too aren't they? Or is it because the Catholic Church says they are right and everyone else is wrong? Please answer this........honestly.

The bible is written in parabells, metaphors. For exmaple the bible says if you feel lust in your heart to stab out your own eye. It does not mean that you will never feel lust nor does it mean to stab out your eyes. It is saying that over indugling and letting the lust over take your mind is like taking away a part of your body!

The New Evangelical Leaders think so.

“And I’m doing an altar call. An email altar call….”

Do we have a new generation of leaders with spiritual foundations who lead with the Sermon on the Mount?

====

Jim Wallace, a new style evangelical preacher thinks so. This question is actually recast from a direct quote from his sermon, quoted by Krista Tippett on her program Speaking of Faith. Their entire interview can be downloaded here:
