Why are those who hate God so eager to promote 'Christmas'?
So-called atheists, that is, who get bothered by God.

David W, I've seen it on here many times, I've also heard it said on mational radio (uk) before now. I didn't say all christians say it. How do you know that all christians don't say that? You did your survey when?

Because they simply cannot accept that people out there who do not have the same beliefs as they do could be right about the nature of life.

It must be absolutely petrifying to a Christian that their belief system might actually be incorrect- no heaven waiting for them when they die is just a terrifying concept.

That is why I think they are so defensive.

Atheists don't hate God. Atheism is a state you reach after making a spiritual journey leading you to the conclusion that there is no God. Many people make that journey and some come to that conclusion.

An atheist has no problems with religion. You may regard us in the same way as people who believe in fairies or that the world is flat, but you respect the fact that we have made the same journey and reached a different conclusion.

God haters are another matter. They may claim to be atheists, but the only journey they ever make is down the pub. Anyone who uses this site as a means of insulting religion or religious people needs to use his brain a little more and his ask himself why he is angry with God and God's followers.

What is the source of your question?

How did you establish that 'many Christians think atheists hate god'?

I have never heard that. Christians accept that atheists don't believe in God. They don't understand it, but accept it. I've never seen anyone on here say that atheists hate God.

As others have stated above. You cannot hate something that you don't believe exists.

Interesting question...You know I guess it's because it's just weird to (some of) us to think that some people could possibly believe that He doesn't exist so (some of us) assume they all just hate God and are trying to convince themselves that He doesn't exist. However, since I started going to a secular university it's much easier for me to understand that atheists in general just believe that He doesn't exist at all. All together it may be that some of us think you're trying to ignore something you know is there because you hate it, not you just don't believe it exists at all.

Well I would say that a lot of atheists hate Christians not God. I am a Christian and get treated very poorly by a lot of atheists. The name calling and the poking fun of my beliefs is VERY childish. I would do no such thing to an atheist and I don't appreciate it when they do it to me! I do have atheist friends they're not all bad but I know that a lot of them can't stand Christians. If you are a TRUE Christians you will love and embrace ALL people not just other believers!!!!

You are right they don't believe in God so how can they hate God.The fact is atheists are blind to the truth and the scriptures say many will be its supposed to be that way,not all were given eyes to see and ears to hear.I am a Christian and you have to understand when the bible talks about hate you must know the Hebrew language hate in the bible means 'to love less' God Bless

i think it to do with conflicts of asserting who's perfect and who's misguided. Which spells into opposition between the two. there is often conflicts of ideals etc. this is between the excuses why, i exploit to be anglican/church of england. So I easily have been there and that i've got completed that. and since the twelve months of 1994, when I grew to grow to be a, enchanted approaches of the raven moons form of witch. and that i had lost all of my faith back then. So i presumed reliable i'm getting to do issues my way. via leaving anglican/church of england perpetually. And the leaving and erased each and all of the ideals, and teachings of him and the anglician/church of england faith. This replaced into my thank you to tell god and my ex anglician/church of england faith to circulate and f*** themself perpetually. and that i on no account ever regarded back. by way of fact i ought to on no account ever be greater happier of being a witch. that's why i'm so over the moon from being a witch. and that i do settle for athiests consistently in the non secular facet of my existence. even however i'm no longer a athiest, in any respect.

I was under the impression that Atheists don'g believe in god - so how can they hate something that doesn't exist? Its like me saying I hate the tooth fairy (sorry to those who are under 8 for spoiling that belief)

I think some of them do hate God. They act as if they've been betrayed, not as if they're indifferent to the concept, as other atheists do. I think this stems from the fact that there are as many reasons to be an atheist as there are atheists.
