He killed his wife! He murdered his wife! As you can see these two words can mean the same thing. The word murder is pretty straight forward in it's meaning. The word kill is a little fuzzy in it's meaning. Kill could mean .... " she killed him in a car accident". So I would say that if we are using the word "kill" in the terms of an accident, ..... it would be less morallly wrong than murder.

The Bible does recognize a different between killing and murdering. For example, you are forced to kill a person in self-defense or the defense of another, that is nor murder, and not morally wrong. This would include things like a police officer shooting someone dangerous in the course of his duty, or a solider defending his country.
In the Old Testament, if you killed somone by accident, God had the Jews set up several "cities of refugee". If you fled to one of those cities, they would protect you until you were able to gather evidence and show in a court that the killing was an accident.
Examples given in the OT law of accidental killing included if you bumps someone and they fell, hit a rock with their head and died. Or if an axe head came off a handle while you were using it, hit someone and killed them. Those would not be "murder", and not morally wrong. They were accidents.
So "murder" is morally wrong, killing may not be.
The actual commandment in the 10 Commandments should be translated "You shall not murder" rather then the older version "thou shalt not kill".

Murder as that is an intentional killing of someone. Killing someone is very generic and could apply to many different situations i.e. you could hit someone with your car, accidentally, and kill them or they could be threatening your live and you could kill them. Neither of these cases is morally wrong. Similarly, you could kill others in a war, which while war is not the desired way to resolve issues, is not immoral, depending on your moral system.
Edit:
Understand that there are various moral systems in the world, and the study of moral systems is called Ethics, generally taught in philosophy. Each moral system will have it's own view on this and other forms of killing.

To kill someone ,means you really didn't have a choice. You did it to save yours or someone Else's life. for example, the lady who killed the guy who murdered those church people. The lady saved lives by killing him.
Killing implies consent? WTF? Who consents the person killing or the person killed? Did the lady who saved the lives of those people in that church want to kill? I doubt it. She made a choice, but the gunman forced her into it. Seriously....
Murder is the ruthless taking of a life. You rob a house and kill the occupants of that house. You kill a rival in a drug war. You murder your girlfriend because she wants to leave you.....
Edit : Was it an execution when the lady killed the gunman who murdered all those church people in Colorado? Wouldn't it have been worse to let him kill more people?

Killing is defined as causing unintentional death. This makes murdering, which is intentional, a far worse act. Murder is morally wrong - killing is not.

Not enough information, and the way the question is asked 'kill' and 'murder' could well be synonyms.

Both have the same end result but the word murder is far more harsh and powerful. Either way, someone is dead and it does not matter what you call it. Either way it is morally wrong.
