Am I the only person who just loves people who are gay/lesbian!? I just think its adorable haha and I mean they obviously don't care what people think, which is awesome because I hate how society has brainwashed people into think whatevers right is right. I'm not a lesbian, but of course I'm always accused of being one because of the way I feel about this. Isn't that dumb? People believe, "Well if she likes gay people she must be one." because no one else who isn't, hates them? Is that REALLY what people think?? And whenever someone says something like, "I imagine you kissing a girl" to my friends, or something like that they say, "Ew!" I would understand if it was a specific girl whose gross lol but not "girl" in general. Its so annoying. And wtf, why can't gays/lesbians get married?? I mean WTF?! Honestly have you noticed they stay together the longest? I mean look at famous people, the guys and girls break up but a lot of lesbians are still together. Obviously that's better for their kids (if they adopt) instead of having parents divorcing all the time. And I hate how parents say "my only son/daughter is a lesbian! no grandkids!" HELLO, their are ways. You can adopt, there are sperm donors. I mean if my kid was gay I'd be pretty excited haha, it would be nice in my opinion. But if they were straight then ok because I don't judge people. I believe you should just be yourself and who cares what everyone else thinks. Agree, or disagree??

Note:

Exodus 20:8-11

"Remember the Sabbath day to keep it Holy. Six days shall you labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: In it you shall not do any work. You, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, not your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates:"

So far the reasons according to others stand at:

I am delusional.

I am afraid of death or unwilling to accept it.

I am amoral, so I need them dictated to me.

I am uneducated.

Please add to this list, why am I a Theist?

How did the situation resolve itself?
Throughout my life there have been many experiences I might rather not have known and many times that I was angry at God. Periods of time when I was furious with Him. But Never have I ever doubted His existence. Perhaps I am odd but I have always 'felt' Him and His love.
Peace Be With You,
Debra

I know there are many of you on here, but I don't know anything about what you believe apart that you don't believe in a God.
Do you agree with anything in the bible?
Do you believe we have a soul or spirit?
Do you believe there is a meaning to life?
How do you believe mankind was created?

I could go on and on but I won't.......I don't expect you to answer each question but more, what is your philosophy about life.
I'm being brave to ask this as but I just am curious to know about some of what you believe.

Please don't be offended by my questions but how will I know if I don't ask.

Good day to all:0)

Its easy to point out the people we dislike, people who troll around, people we admire, and of course the people we agree with.

So can anyone name the most cordial regular? The one who to borrow the Christians phrase, decided not to cast stones, or has thrown the least mudballs during our daily intramurals.

There was a question asked a while back about how fast a language evolves. The best answer chosen was that a language will become incomprehensible in 500 years. Another good answer (in my opinion) was 5% of change with every generation.

My question for discussion is this:

Will television, the Internet, global economy, etc... slow the change of language? Will people 500 years from now (assuming America isn't conquered and the language is replaced) speak an English we would understand? Although there will be tons of dialects like there is today, will standard English be roughly the same as it is today?

Let's have some well thought out educated guesses!

As a tool of escapism there is nothing that comes near to the superiority of the internet. It provides us with knowledge, entertains us, shapes our behaviour, allows us to be even more freer than we were many years ago in the days of yore.

Yes it is abused by some, but '“this instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires and lights in a box.”

So could you live without it? Could you revert to the days of reading books playing sports in your spare time, socialising with humans (face to face as opposed to in chat rooms) and getting of your chair to order the Bill and Ted boxset, instead of going to ebay or amazon?

I'm gonna catch heat for this, I know.

I am an indoctrinated Roman Catholic so I've been told by the Vatican that "Jesus was King of the Jews" not the Muslims. BUT when I look at depictions of the birth, their clothes, and given the location of Jesus' birth in the middle east (Mary wore a veil covering her hair and so on), I see Islamic Muslim tradition there. I am not trying to stereo type Muslims, but I find it hard to believe Jesus was king of the Jews in a part of the world with so many Muslims, and then just happened to create Christianity. There's something fishy there, I think. Could he have possibly been a Muslim? What does the Quron say about Jesus? I am ignorant to that side of the story.

Well, it may be so. If your child was killed by a pedophile.....
And he got life in prison, with no parole. Without the
death penalty. Being incarcerated alone to you, may not
be enough. Would you feel, that there is a sense of
validation, by not having that particualr person punished,
in a much harsher way ? Besides, it is not likely, that you
the Atheist, would be able to do something, or get justice,
the best way possible. Lets say, tear that murderer
apart...... Can't do that, because he is in prison.....
Anyway, there is a place called Hell. And it would
probably be very fitting, from a human being's perspective,
to be punished severely. Since you do not believe in such
a place, Hell, how would you even begin to have a sense
of validation. Knowing, that person is getting off lightly.
Because death itself, is not enough. For that horrible man,
or woman. So do you the Atheist, believe in this underworld,
called Hell ? Answer here.

Just asking for personal opinions.

(Personally, just like I wouldn't advertise my political affiliation to the world, I do not need my religious persuasion tattooed on my forehead. No offense to those who take pride in their religion and want to showcase it.)

ok, this is the scenario: i regularly complain of being fat - even though i am within a healthy weight range and am of average weight. i know i am not fat, but i wouldn't mind losing a little weight... its not hugely a big deal, as i work out most nights and eat very healthy foods. people say there is nothing wrong with my body and that i am not fat.
my flatmate is naturally stick thin and is a head shorter than me, she is tiny. she also says i am not fat, but that i am of a healthy weight.
one night, we were really drunk, and i asked her if i was fat - and she said yes.
around 7 months later, she was describing to me a girl from her work and described her as being, "a bit fatter than you". she then quickly corrected herself and said, "um a lot fatter than you...". and she kind of trailed off and tried to act as though nothing had happened. i did not mention anything to her - but i do believe she had made a Freudian slip, which occurs when a person says what they really mean before

I have not seen the movie....nor do I really want to....I am absolutely horrified that my 8 yr old daughter went to watch it with her father.....

I am just wondering exactly what she was exposed to.....I hear the first movie there will be nothing bad....
