I am really just looking for christians to answer this question....but many christians probably have not seen the movie..

If you have seen the movie.....is there anything in the first movie that will make you question christianity or that speaks badly of christians.

I have not seen the movie....nor do I really want to....I am absolutely horrified that my 8 yr old daughter went to watch it with her father.....

I am just wondering exactly what she was exposed to.....I hear the first movie there will be nothing bad....

Without reading how anyone else responded to your question, I have seen the movie.

It is NOT GOOD for an eight year old, in my opinion.
It does not speak "bad" about Christians.

After watching it, I realize why it could be picked apart by the Christian community. The people in the movie have a soul outside their bodies and inside animals.

It was quite bizarre, to say the least, the ethics, anyway.

Hope that says enough...

for sure if human beings carry to a cheished thought and it is attacked then they does no longer be liable to assist it. people who're asserting it incredibly is in elementary terms a action picture probably at the instant are not protecting solid perspectives of Christianity. If some thing they have been into became attacked they would not prefer to assist it the two. i desperate this week that i does no longer spend money to work out the Golden Compass. no person instructed me to try this it became my own determination. If yet another Christian is going to work out the action picture that's as much as her or him. i does no longer tell them they shouldn't see it. i might in simple terms tell them what i understand approximately it. this may be a topic remember for a guy or woman's own conviction because of the fact the Bible would not limit a beliver from seeing video clips generally. they might desire to evaluate further. I even have examine countless articles approximately it and seen the promo (the 1st 5 minutes) and that i understand adequate to appreciate what it is approximately. Animals are called demons interior the hollow intro of the action picture. Animals that are depicted as pets or buddies are being exceeded as as a demon which might make youthful childern extra accepting of the belief of demons. If there is an prepared boycott so what? Is there no longer freedom of the press and freedom to no longer partake in a number of that press additionally? If this action picture isn't a brilliant financially grossing image then it is going to convince some action picture manufacturers to no longer make a majority of those video clips. I in simple terms desire people who boycott have their own pesonal wisdom with regards to the action picture in any different case they won't look that rational to protest some thing they could no longer understand.

This movie represents atheism as much as Narnia represents Christ. The chronicles of narnia is a cool movie for kids about a pretend place thats having a war thats it no god involved really for kids and the same goes for the golden compass this is just adults reading way too much into it.

I already found one question on here from someone that saw it.
They wanted to know if the portrayal of the Catholic church was right, if the author was right or not, that the church indoctrinates children so young before they can think for themselves.
That is an old atheist's accusation.
So, what can anyone expect from a movie that has the story written by an atheist?
It will have atheistic beliefs.

I checked this out at snopes.com; unfortunately, it's true...
The Golden Compass has been described as "atheism for kids" and is based on the first book of a trilogy entitled "His Dark Materials" written by Phillip Pullman. Pullman is a militant atheist and secular humanist who despises
C. S. Lewis and the "Chronicles of Narnia."

His motivation for writing this trilogy was specifically to counteract Lewis' symbolisms of Christ portrayed in the Narnia series.

Clearly, Pullman's main objective is to bash Christianity and promote atheism. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview, "my books are about killing God." He has even stated that he wants "to kill God in the minds of children." It has been said of Pullman that he is "the writer the atheists would be praying for, if atheists prayed."

While "The Golden Compass" movie itself may seem mild and innocent, the books are a much different story. In the trilogy, a young streetwise girl becomes enmeshed in an epic struggle to ultimately defeat the oppressive forces of a senile God. Another character, an ex-nun, describes Christianity as "a very powerful and convincing mistake." In the final book, characters representing Adam and Eve eventually kill God, who at times is called YAHWEH. Each book in the trilogy gets progressively worse regarding Pullman's hatred of Jesus Christ.

Promoters hope that unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the movie, that they will enjoy the movie, and that the children will want the books for Christmas. Please boycott the movie and the books. Also, pass this information along to everyone you know. This will help to educate parents, so that they will know the agenda of the movie.

Oh No, not again . . . .

Nowhere in the trilogy does anyone kill God. They kill an angel who has set himself up as God.

I would have thought that that would be right down any Christian's street - didn't your own deity say that worshipping any other deity is wrong? Well the "God" in His Dark Materials is a pretend God.

Get it?

Get a life and let your kid watch the movies

There is no mention of Christianity in any way shpe or form. The closest thing to religion in the movie is the Nazi-esque Magisterium that wants to control what people think.

Just curious, after seeing the movie with her Dad, has your daughter came to you and said she wants to be an Atheist? No? Then why are your panties in a bunch? You cannot shield your child from everything you find offensive in the world. It is your job to teach her to be open minded, read, study and decide for herself what she believes. Maybe she will choose Christianity and maybe not, but in the end it will be HER choice. You blocking things from her just shows her YOUR fear.

After seeing it, you would have to know the hidden meanings to actually make sence of the atheistic viewtones.

If a child sees the movie it wont think "ohh that represents god, and thats rationality, and thats..."
they will think "Ohh a talking bear! and a witch! go bear!"

exactly

It's all analogies that kids don't understand. They will only get the hints if they are clued in by adults..which they have been so kind to do by making a big deal out of it.
