The gifts that I give are to the children in my family....especially my daughters! I get mostly for them, and then get one small gift for each of my nieces and nephews. My parents get a combined gift from me & hubby, my siblings and inlaws, and that's it!! It is so hard to afford to buy for such a big family...besides, giving and receiving material things is not what Christmas is about anyway....it's giving of yourself to others, just like God did for us when he gave us a savior...so the birth of Jesus Christ is what Christmas is ALL ABOUT!!

not all persons..i'm Christian as nicely. My teenage son is an in basic terms new child and he often gets a clean sport and a few clothing products - he's content textile with it. My fiance and that i havent exchanged presents in years. some persons do be responsive to the actual meaning of Christmas and spend it in fellowship and worship. you may desire to remember not each and every person that calls themselves a Christian, is a Christian.

Nope. Tythe is 10 %. If I spend 10% of my income on Christmas then I would sincerely need to rethink my values. However, I do make a list...my own kids don't get much for Christmas...PJ's and educational toys - they are still very young..I realize as they get older the "toys" get more spendy. Hubby and I go on a date for our Christmas gift to each other. As for the rest of the family...home made baked goods, silly T-Shirts, fun things like candles, calandars and etc...bath stuff...all to be kept under 10 bucks or so for each child and under 15 to 20 for an adult. Except my husbands mother...All she ever wants are framed pics of the kids...most recent.

I have two sons so for them together it totals about $250.00. An equal amount is being distributed between our local food bank and a few charities. I try not to overdo Christmas presents. My sons laughingly call Tax Return in January their major gift season. My contribution to the Church remains confidential. My sons help spend the other money for charities and such so that they do not grow to greedy.

Probably less than $200. So far, I've made candy cane mice to give away to some Primary children I teach and their families, with children's books for nieces and nephews. Also I am buying a new keyboard so I can give away a nice used one to someone else.

How much do I tithe? That's not something to display to anyone.
Why are people so eager to declare something so private? Is it because they tell the government all of the time through tax forms? How spiritual is that, to lay a claim on something given to God with strings attached?

my wife's present cost me about $600.
I'm sure we spend over $2,500 when everything is taken into consideration.
That's a small fraction of what we end up giving to the Church, though.
