In 1948, most people in the land that is now called Israel were Arab Muslims. The majority of Jews who were there had immigrated to the land, many illegally in support of the Zionist movement to reclaim the land and establish a Jewish state.
Supposedly, the Christian God is the father of ALL humans, and loves them equally, offering each one an opportunity to sit by his side eternally, right?
So why is it that when the question of Israel comes up, somehow Christian fundies bring up nonsense about how Jews are the chosen people and God has promised to destroy their enemies? It's as if Christians revert to the Old Testement God on this issue, a tribal God that Israelites rallied behind w/ the Ark and went into battle against rival Gods.
So which is it? A universal God or a tribal God?

Get your facts straight please :)

The term 'Palestinian' referred to Jews, Christians and Muslims.

Jews have lived in that region for almost 4000 years continuously. The Jewish settlers in the early 1900s bought the land - legally - from absent Arab landlords who were happy to charge inflated prices and sell the land from under the feet of the Palestinian Arabs living there.

The land was divided into two parts: the Jewish part was the smallest and this was transformed into Israel. The Arab part became.... nothing - because the Arab world went mad and rejected the presence of a democratic Jewish state in the middle east.

Israel is a legal and democratic state. Christian zionists support it because presumably they believe it is the promised land etc.

And their support of the lone democracy in the middle east bothers you why, exactly?

Israel takes up 0.01 of the middle east.

There are 22 Muslim countries.

You do the maths.

Well, it is not so much Christian fundies but the policy of the US since 1948. Seems as though once a policy is set, such as our view of Israel, our policy toward Cuba, no one wants to change it.

Of course, the major cause our troubles in the Middle East stem from this policy toward Israel. Not to say we shouldn't support Israel, but limits should have been set from the beginning as to the size of the Jewish State. And, from the beginning Palestine should have had a say in that policy and a homeland.

As for Cuba, the US gives most favored nation status to China but will not even talk to Cuba, quite idiotic really. We normalize relations with Vietnam, Japan, Germany yet, Cuba, that has nothing to compare to what these countries did is simply forgotten about.

The Isrealites are and will forever remain God's chosen people. All others are adopted into the family of God by following Him. We stand behind Israel because we believe that THEIR land was given to them by God and it is THEIR land. It is not Old Testament, read Revelation. My question is this...why is it that all other nations that receieved land by conquering another nation are not expected to give the land back? Israel won some of their land in 1968 as a result of a war and they are expected to give it back. Why is that? Shouldn't the US have to give back the land to the NAtive Americans, the Mexicans, the British, the Spaniards, etc? I will stand behind Israel and pray for her peace.

Here's the first of a five-part article to get you started. If you want to understand this issue, which is well-worth the effort, you'll need to put aside some time for reading. This site will pull up more articles than you can read in a year if you use the search words "christian zionism" Happy reading.

You need to look past 1948. In 4000BC or before, the people in the land now called Israel were
Israelites, descendants NOT of Ishmael.

Sorry about your failed World History course.

Universal G-d who unites Tribes! At least the Israelis are DOING something there. Palestine was a wasteland after 66 A.D. when Roman threw rightful residents (3 guesses........the Jews) out. Until 1948 the place simply festered. Israel is a bright spot and a glorious country. I have unflinching support for them, as "G-d helps those who help themselves"!

have you ever study the prophecies correct to the return of Christ in Zechariah 14 ? i got here across it fairly exciting that interior the latter days God will convey international locations up against Jerusalem for conflict and Israel will take an extremely no longer undemanding hit. presently after that Christ returns and then inserts and battles against those international locations that got here up against Jerusalem. Christ exchange right into a Jew so i assume he's taking it in my opinion whilst some attempt to kill his brothers and sisters.

Putting aside your selective ignorance with regard to the historical population of Palestine, Fundies support Zionism because it aligns with their rebuilding-of-the-temple/ end-times prophecies. I suggest you google "red heifer" to get a better understanding.
