In my foolish attempt to lighten the mood:

Which R&S commentator would you choose to spend the whole day with at (Location of your choice)?

[The question of course assumes you would like to spend a whole day with someone on the board. If not, then this question isn't for yo.]

Tommy is a young boy, just potty trained. When he goes to the bathroom though, Tommy manages to hit everything but the toilet. So his mom has to go in and clean up after him. After two weeks, she has had enough, and takes Tommy to the doctor.

After the examination, the doctor said, "His unit is too small. An old wives' tale is to give him two slices of toast each morning, and his unit will grow so he can hold it and aim straight."

The next morning Tommy jumped out of bed and ran downstairs to the kitchen. There on the table, are twelve slices of toast.

"Mom!" Tommy yells. "The doctor said I only had to eat two slices of toast."

"I know." said his mother. "The other ten are for your father."

If there was ever a Hindu revolution in India, similar to that which Iran had in 1979, and the army overthrew the current set of communists and replaced them with staunch Hindus, what would be the consequences for India as well as for the world???

p.s. this is a hypothetical Q, I am not plotting a coup - at least not yet :-)

In my personal scripture study recently, I've noted several passages which denote a great power behind the simple practice of faith [see Mormon & his commentary in Ether].
Does anyone have any insight here?
[and please, no negativity - yes, I referred to the Book of Mormon and am LDS - nor do I particularly care if you have 'judged' that mormons will go to hell]

"Jesus...said, "FATHER,...this is eternal life, that they may know you, the ONLY true God.'" (John 17:1-3) NRSV

Additionally related is the extremely significant fact that NOWHERE in the Bible can the phrases "God the Son" or "God, the Holy Spirit" be found.

Yet the Father is CLEARLY, directly, and indisputably called "GOD, THE FATHER," many, many times, (Ro. 15:6; 1 Cor. 1:3; 1 Cor. 8:6; 2 Cor. 11:31; Gal. 1:1; Eph. 4:6; 1 Thess. 1:1; 2 Thess. 1:2; etc.)

So again, if Jesus really is God, then why did Jesus himself say that "ONLY" the FATHER is God?

Should it be illegal to force religion on them until they have reached the age of reason? Wouldn't we all be better off if this were the case?

Is it only our continuing understanding of what is true that actually changes? Basically truth doesn't evolve, but our comprehension of it does? A paradigm shift if you will. What are your thoughts?

How has it ruined the family?
How has it ruined children?
How has it ruined the economy?
How has it ruined the Military?
How has it ruined people that want to live by the Ten Commandments?

Or has it just ruined the unrepentful heathen Sinner who hates the Bible and wants religion out of the public eye?

Im just wondering how many out there are in this or a simular situation.

Im not sure she fully understands how much of an atheist i am, i have talked to her about it but im afraid she thinks im going through a phase or dosnt think im as much of an atheist as i say i am.

I plan on getting married to this girl and im fine with a christian wedding. It makes more sence for us to have a christian wedding since i dont have a prefrence and she does. but when it comes to our future children, i dont know what to do. I want my kids to make up their own mind by making sure they have the option to from the very begining. it took me 20 years to figure things out and i could have used that time developing myself further. Any advise is welcome, but try to keep it productive.

I can ALMOST understand why men were told not to masturbate back then. Maybe they thought that men had only so much sperm before they ran out. Therefore they may have thought it was possible to "waste a seed".

HOWEVER - there is nothing lost at all when a woman masturbates. Why is it wrong for her?

I need some suggestions on combating the indoctrination of my sons...

My husband is very strongly Christian, I am very spiritual but not religious. We attend church and Sunday school regularly because it is what my husband wants and the kids enjoy it. Unfortunately I'm seeing the affects it is having on my sons. Already my eldest is beginning to be forceful about his beliefs and is upset when others don't agree. He was presented with a bible and walks around quoting scripture.

I have been encouraging him to read other books about nature, animals, jokes, anything! I constantly remind him that not everyone believes the same or goes to church and that is fine, we have different experiences and opinions.

Any other suggestions? (And no unfortunately skipping church doesn't seem to be an option if I want to keep a happy family life.)

Better yet, when was the last time someone did this for you?

I have a friend who became concerned about my arthritic feet being cold during last winter's brutal cold snap. He sent me a box of warm socks, and that is one of the most endearing things anyone has ever done for me.

As I was outside hanging my Christmas lights in the cold, I thought of his gesture, so I came in to ask this question.

Thanks for sharing your precious moments.

Oh, yes, I'm wearing his socks.

I am not my own Judge. I don't judge myself, God does... God judges me and God sends me to where I go.. if he has no control over where I go than why does he judge me... HE decides where I go.. not me. I can be in the religion I want... that doesn't mean I have chosen where I go... God does... he condemns... HE is the judge.

People may feel that he's not very loving but that's how it is.

Back in the good-old-days, (In America) nobody thought twice when boys or men went out skinny-dipping to the old-swimming-hole, and America was a Christian Nation back then. Even the preacher did it, and the YMCA aloud it.
So why do Christian Americans look at it as wrong and as a homosexual act today? Us Boony, Mountian, Christians are yelled at for something we never thought was wrong.
