How has it ruined the family?
How has it ruined children?
How has it ruined the economy?
How has it ruined the Military?
How has it ruined people that want to live by the Ten Commandments?

Or has it just ruined the unrepentful heathen Sinner who hates the Bible and wants religion out of the public eye?

People are taught that sex is evil, and that no women should ever enjoy sex. This has ruined the sex lives of untold people, harming their families.

Parents and religious leaders lie to children, refuse to let them learn the truth. Many people were psychologically abused as children, threatened with eternal torment, burdened with unbearable guilt, and seriously messed up.

If we were allowed to teach science in schools, we'd be stronger economically and wouldn't have to import so many of the specialists we now do.

I know of no one who wants to live by the Ten Commandments. I know no one who keeps the Sabbath holy, for instance, spending the entire day centered around religion ("Please God, let them get a touchdown." doesn't count.)

We unrepentent (ful?) heathen sinners are the best thing this country's got going for it.

You confuse "out of the public eye" and "out of legislation."

but to answer your questions:
Family: I was persecuted and ostracized by my family for not being a conformist and for questioning faith. There was a lack of tolerance and compassion among those that should have had it most, because of doctrine.

Children: See example above, that was rough to deal with as a child. It also teaches them to judge those who believe differently.

Economy: Churches don't pay taxes, turn a profit, and take up prime real estate locations. Some churches are on property worth billions, and in business districts. I'm sure that strains the economy...not only due to location, but due to lost tax revenue.

Military: Some would say we're righting a religious war with our military now...so it could be viewed that such values and beliefs put those soldiers in harm's way.

10 Commandments: I don't take issue with them, although I don't worry much about the religious ones.

Hope that answered your question.

The separation of church and state was clearly set out in the U.S. Constitution. There is no problem with the Judeo Christian values. The problem occurs when there is a de facto religious test for anyone aspiring to become president. Thomas Jefferson would be turning in his grave if he saw how successfully the religious right have influenced the Republican Party over the last thirty years or so.

Shouldn't your question have been, "Have Judeo Christian values hurt the USA"? By the way you worded your question, you have presupposed that they have already in fact hurt the country. You have not allowed room for those who would disagree with you and believe that these values have actually helped the country. It is rather like asking what is 2 + 2, and giving multiple choices which do not contain the number 4.

what?!?!

your judeo christian values are not what is on trial...

live by your values, nobody wants to stop that....

what we don't want is for you to impose your personal life rules on the rest of society...

1. It has ruined the families of people who disown their kids because of their kid's choices in life..

2 It ruins and even kills children who are guilt ridden about their bodies, and natural desires which don't agree with their religion (serious psychological damage)

3. Churches don't pay taxes, turn a profit, and take up prime real estate locations. Some churches are on property worth billions, and in business districts. I'm sure that strains the economy...not only due to location, but due to lost tax revenue.
(stolen from joe)

4. the military i have little concern for, as long as we aren't invaded, they are doing their job

5. people who WANT to live by the ten commandments, DO...

As an Atheist, I'd have to say that I don't think these values have hurt the US -- not generally, anyway.

I object to the teaching of those values as "American" values in modern public education whenever they include GOD, because that is my opinion and as a tax paying, voting citizen I get to put my opinion out there too.

I object to subordinating science to religion as I hold science to be the superior arbitrator of truth in a democratic society like ours.

Wasn't this country's founded on the beliefs of Judeo Christians? ...not to forget the idea of freedom; I don't know, do I have my history straight here?

Also, I am in the military and don't really see how the military is ruined since I have fought along side atheist and theist together. We never fought and bickered amongst each other at all, and I would never get the vibe of hate from any of them, that I get from people in R&S...

You appear to be Christian, but I can feel the hate and contempt seeping through your words. Sadly, you are a typical representation of Christianity here.
