I live 100 miles inland so I plan to dump holy water into Lake Michigan to make the entire lake holy water. How much water should I have my priest bless to accomplish this? If I ask the bishop instead of the local priest, can I get by with less water?

Ukrainian Orthodox and Catholics bless Lake Micigan every year at Theophany(Jan 6)

Holy water is used to remind us of Baptism and Jesus sanctifying all materiality which is under His rule through His taking materiality and a human nature on Himself when he was conceived and born, lived and died for our salvation, sanctification(theosis) and union with God the Tinity. When Jesus was baptized he sanctified the waters.

If you just brought the priest to lake lake and had him bless the lake itself, you wouldn't have to worry about dilution fo the Holy Water.

We had some disturbances yesterday afternoon on the water, I'm a couple of hours from Lake Mich. I caught a sock yesterday while fishing, my first ever and I am quite concerned about that.

Good question. It takes 1 part per 100,000 to holify typical water. Since Lake Michigan is rather polluted it might take a little more.
