Should it be illegal to force religion on them until they have reached the age of reason? Wouldn't we all be better off if this were the case?

I don't think atheism should be forced on them. Isn't telling them "There is no God." over and over until they believe it the same thing? Don't you teach your beliefs to your children? (or unbelief, as the case may be) What is different about it? We raise our children to know God. You raise your children with no God.
You teach your children what you know to be the truth. When they grow up, they will make up their own minds about it, either way. We all have free will.
Why would I raise MY children in a lie that there is no God? When I know there is???

Since there is no real physical evidence to prove if God is real or not, you can't say for a fact that He doesn't exist. (And I'm not asking you to prove He doesn't exist, as it can't be proven one way or the other.) That is only your personal opinion.

As Christains, we believe He does exist. So we raise our children in what we believe to be the truth. If you think it's wrong to tell one's children what one believes to be the truth, they why don't you lie to your children and tell them God exists? Since the majority of the US population is Christian, maybe we should make it a law that people can't lie and claim God doesn't exist, since the majority believes Him to be real.

How do you know the religious belief of someone is a myth? Is that your belief? Every parent teaches their children based on their beliefs, whatever they are.
