"Unfortunately those in Lutheran Churches only follow what Luther said and they don't go directly to the Bible like Luther told them they should. Which is why the Lutheran church is the 2nd largest provider of abortions in the state of Illinois, right after planned parenthood."

This in "additional details" in a recent question I answered about the Catholic faith. To say the least, it floored me. The questioner didn't prove a source for the allegation -- I asked, but as of yet there have been no further details.

This can't be true; it's just totally against everything I've ever known about the Lutheran church. Is is actually possible for someone to so grossly misconstrue "Lutheran Family Services"? Or is it something else?

Understand: This is not retaliation for hostility shown to my own faith by the same questioner; I'm not that thin-skinned and this R&S participant is only one of many like-minded where Catholicism is concerned. I'm just sincerely boggled by this.

I've spent a significant ammount of my life searching for some nugget of proof of God's existance and have never heard anything more convincing than "You have to have faith"

Where does faith come from then? Isnt accepting something without any evidence whatsoever foolish? How is this any differant than the propaganda used to brainwash the nazis?

OK I understand the big bang idea. I understand why you think that with the red shift and all. So I will skip the crap. How do you think that the first atom got there? When you atheists are confronted with that you always say "Well Gods don't just appear do they?" but that would a stupid assumtion scientificaly speaking because God would be of matter not exposed to humans. And if you can't answer that then isn't atheism a faith?

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversery and we went to eat and had a great time. We decided to go to the movies but many of the movies were rated R and my husband and I were not comfortable seeing those.

So we opted for a PG13 movie but came to find out it was about a man who falls for his brothers girlfriend and we did not think that was too good. We changed our movie to a action thriller
but as I was watching the movie I felt nervous and scared inside my husbands leans over and asks if I wanted to go home and I said yes from what we saw of the movie there was no sex however it did made me feel uneasy. So we went home.

My question is does the Holy Spirit sometimes speak to your heart when something is not right? I even cried because I never felt this way before. The movies were given to us as a gift and what do I say to the people who gave us the gift when they ask us what we saw?

When people quote the bible because you did something wrong and they want to show you what the good lord would say, they read the lines verbatim and the meanings are exact.

However when you ask the blind believers about the genesis (beginning pages of the bible), many are quick to say that these words and sentences should not be taken at face value, etc...

Good old double standards if you ask me.

BTW according to the stories in the bible, god first created Adam and Eve, yet we now know beyond any doubt that dinausors existed on earth well before mankind... At least according to the bible!

We could discuss this forever and ever but if God truly exists (which I don't believe), don't you think He could solve this issue instantly for now and foreever and turn us all poor souls into believers and followers by just appearing. Oh I forgot, it is all about faith! The great answer that solves every argument... It is all rubish!

Exod. 24:9,10; Amos 9:1; Gen. 26:2; and John 14:9
God CAN be seen:
"And I will take away my hand, and thou shalt see my backparts." (Ex. 33:23)
"And the Lord spake to Moses face to face, as a man speaketh to his friend." (Ex. 33:11)
"For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved." (Gen. 32:30)

God CANNOT be seen:
"No man hath seen God at any time." (John 1:18)
"And he said, Thou canst not see my face; for there shall no man see me and live." (Ex. 33:20)
"Whom no man hath seen nor can see." (1 Tim. 6:16)

A person who believes all that is, and all that exists, and all that has happened- The very essance of nature and the way the world happens, due to the will of nothing more than natural random occurances, is god. Technically these people are atheists, they aren't theistic and don't believe in a supreme Deity; BUT they believe god is a term used to describe everything in existance...Help?
