Some people grew up learning to believe in such a thing. To them it's not really their fault.

But others choose it for other reasons. Some need it becuase they see it as a way to make living easier. They believe that if there is a reason why something terrible happens, then it makes it easier to deal with.

Others assume that there is a higher power above that controls all. They see it as easier to die if they are going to a place like heaven. They are just afraid that there's nothing after death.

Others are forced into it. Such as the country they live in requries them to be catholic.

Other people are scared into it. They are told that if they do something bad, they'll suffer eternally for it in hell.

Some use it as an excuse. Like they had to smite a sinner because it was against god.

These are just some theories of mine and others.
There are other theories as well.
----------
There is the classic: I see the form of Jesus in the oil stain.

Others assumed that God decided to let such a thing happen because of their good faith or due to sins.

They look at things happening for a reason. Like winning the lottery is a reward for donating to a church. Or having a rapist who is chasing a young girl fall down a flight of stairs and break his neck as a punishment for sinning.

They take "luck" and decipher it as "miracles".

Then there's the biggest of all: THE BIBLE.
Apparently if someone took the time and place to write the bible, then it's teachings might be true.

Just deciphering from what some christain family members ramble on about daily.

I absolutely agree that there is no "REASON" to believe in Christianity, but I was questioning all of these spiritual issues and felt there was a void in my life. But my sense of reason, and the way in which I grew up, didn't allow me to just "be with God." One morning, I awoke, and an incredible experience happened. I felt the existence of God and Christ in me. I had a very real experience of something Christ-like coming to me and explaining in one very meaningful moment that God was unconditional love. That all things are created from love. Human beings recreate because of love. Animals recreate because of love, and so do all living things in this world. And for one moment, I felt very powerfully the existence of something much much greater than myself that whispered to me, "I Love You". And I understood in that moment that if you do believe that God is Love, and Love is the Creator of all living things, than God is the Creator and the beginning and the end. I still doubt from time to time, and that is a great struggle for me, but when I decide, which means making a choice, to live my life with nothing but Love as the motive, everything goes better. Wonderful things happen, my husband and I don't disagree, my children hear what I have to say, and the world is a better place to live in. And when I live according to Christ's word, MY world is filled with beauty and love.

I believe, conversely, that when one acts out of hate, or the desire to be controlling, or the desire to prove you are right and no one else is, evil happens. It is out of this evil that wars happen. It always boils down to people wanting to have power over other people, people wanting to prove they and only they know the truth, or the desire to have financial gain over others - and all of these things cause evil in this world. These are all the opposite of Love.

I also believe that most of what Christ preached was very Buddhist in nature, and when anyone starts to really study the differences and similarities between all the great (or should I say most populated religions) the essential values of integrity, charity, honesty and most important, Love are always taught.

So, for me, my Christian community gives me love and support and I don't feel the void as much among them, and I would like to believe that the more people believe in the power of God and the power of Love, the less evil there would be in this world. It's too idealistic, I realize, but the idea of it gives me comfort, and if I can spread these words in my small community, and everyone in my small community spreads it in their community, and on and on, eventually there could be peace, understanding and love in the world.

It's magic. You get to believe in something without ever seeing, hearing, or talking to it. You get to put all your trust and faith that everything will be okay in it, and sit back and relax. You get to be irresponsible and drop it in the lap of a God you have not nor ever will see.

Oh, I'll get flamed big time for that answer, but it's how I see it. If it offends you, pray for me.

Because of the preponderance of the evidence.

Check it out for yourself. There's lots more to Christianity than the Bible.
