My husband and I were celebrating our anniversery and we went to eat and had a great time. We decided to go to the movies but many of the movies were rated R and my husband and I were not comfortable seeing those.

So we opted for a PG13 movie but came to find out it was about a man who falls for his brothers girlfriend and we did not think that was too good. We changed our movie to a action thriller
but as I was watching the movie I felt nervous and scared inside my husbands leans over and asks if I wanted to go home and I said yes from what we saw of the movie there was no sex however it did made me feel uneasy. So we went home.

My question is does the Holy Spirit sometimes speak to your heart when something is not right? I even cried because I never felt this way before. The movies were given to us as a gift and what do I say to the people who gave us the gift when they ask us what we saw?

You're blessed for having such a considerate and sensitive husband. On task, the Holy Spirit often does put things on our hearts to tell us something.

I'm not a big fan of violence either.
It's a shame that you were so upset about the movie that you cried on the way home.
Sounds like your anniversary was ruined- that's too bad.
Thank the people for the gift. If they ask how the movie was tell them that unfortunately, you did not feel well and had to leave early.

It's like you are saying that you found something out about your husband which made you feel uneasy.

#1- Trust God no matter what.
#2 - Love your husband, no matter what.

If you mean that you felt cheated because you weren't satisfied by the entertainment, rent a movie you like seeing instead of walking into a movie blind. You were kind of foolish to do that if it messed with your conscience.

I go to any movie that I want to. It typically doesn't bother me. But I want to know what I am seeing. I'm kinda built that way.

EDIT: Here is wisdom. There can be things learned in something that is not beautiful to you. If you are offended by the movie in some aspect, there might be a better reason to endure it, the Holy Spirit might be trying to show you something. Your remorse - it could be that you missed something because you are so quick to dismiss when offended.

Yes, the Holy Spirit does speak to your heart. You did well and you listened! How wonderful. Always listen to when the Holy Spirit speaks. If you ignore the Holy Spirit, you will always regret it! May the Lord bless you!

It's the ever-quiet voice of your conscience. When it speaks up, we do well to listen.

Sorry you had a crummy time. Just tell the truth to the gift giver... you tried to use their thoughtful gift but everything that was playing just wasn't "your style"...

You are stressed out. Ask your husband to take the garbage out and give youa massage.
