I dont know the Bible can be taken strictly where all curse words are sins. But then if you read into real deep then we could be all sinning by eating fast food because we are "hurting" our bodies which are temples of the Holy Spirit. Its how you take it personally.

Please notice the singular and the plural

No one is going to hell for committing acts of SINS.
People will go to hell for the SIN of unbelief by rejecting God's offer of salvation by the sacrificial death of Christ. for their SINS and their sinful nature which causes them to commit acts of SINS. It is not what you do that makes you a sinner, it is what you are. The SIN that will cause people to go to hell is not believing God. All acts of sins come from unbelief in what God says. God is the one who made the mouth and enables one to speak. Jesus said out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks; and He also said it is what comes out of the mouth that defiles a person. Cussing does not honor God and it hurts people and reveals the character of the one doing it. It is disrespect to the hearer and to God. If you do not believe this then you have made God a liar and what you are saying is I do not believe God, respect Him or others. There is no such thing as mild sins to God because all of them are an offense to Him. His son died for my sins and I do not think that was mild.

You don't go to hell for sinning. Everybody sins. Cussing can be quite innocent (tacky but innocent). and you can say very hatefull things far worse with perfect proper language. God and faith are not that infantile.

Wow! Is cussing a sin? And, is it such a mild sin? And would someone go to hell for cussing?

First of all, how do you know where cussing ranks in the list of sins? Is there a ranking of sins that you are aware of that tells you that cussing is one of the mild ones?

All sin is deadly, totally and completely. From the smallest to the greatest, even one sin will send you to hell, every single one separates us from God because every single one is rebellion against Him. We have not a hope nor a leg to stand on before Him because every one of us has committed sin.

But the good news is that God loved us so much that He was not willing to let us go to hell. He was willing to do whatever He had to do to reconcile us to Himself. The only way to do that would be to deal with the problem of sin. All through the Old Testament, God shows us what the cost of our sin is, death. He makes a temporary way for man to cover His sin, the death of a spotless, innocent lamb, examined and tried. This was a picture of pure, innocent, perfect ONE to come, Jesus Christ, whose death, whose blood would not only cover our sin over, but would cleanse us of our sin, His blood would pay the penalty, the ransom for our souls. A once and for all act that cleanses to the uttermost those who will accept His gift of life.

That doesn't mean that we can go on sinning and willfully living a life seeking our own will and our own way. He gave His life for us, and the exchange is that we then begin to lay down our lives for Him, which is a process. A process of making choices day by day to obey, to follow, to seek to know Him and to know what pleases Him and what doesn't. A choice to grow in His grace, in faith, and into freedom from the things that pull us away from Him.

I don't know where you are in your walk with Christ, if you have one. If you have not made the choice to accept His life for you and to offer your life to follow Him, than even a mild sin is deadly. If you have accepted Him and are a follower of Christ, then you need to be asking yourself whether or not cussing pleases Him, whether it brings honor to His name (if you carry the discription of "Christian" you carry His name and your actions can honor or bring dishonor to that name), and how it affects your life. Does it grace your life positively? Does it encourage and build you up?

If you are a follower of Christ, I encourage you to go to Him and ask Him how He feels about the words that come out of your mouth. If you feel a sense in your heart (your conscience), then you may need to ask Him to give you the will and the ability to speak in ways that will honor Him and please Him.

As a follower of Christ (you have joined the family of God), I encourage you to seek Him, to hunger to know Him and His ways more fully. I encourage you to seek Him and His will for your life. He does not disappoint! The very least of all that He offers you is so much more valueable that the greatest pleasures and treasures that the world has to offer!

I hope that this answers your question clearly.

Most curse words have nothing to do with the bible, for example f**k and s**t. I don't know why saying them could be considered a sin.

I was raised in a church where golly, gosh, gee whiz,,Heaven help us, thank goodness, and dang and da gum were all considered forms of cussing as these were derivatives of the "real thing".
So, to answer your question: IDK Who's to say but your own inner convictions???

I forgot Heck

Think of your language as you would your clothes. Sometimes you dress up, sometimes you dress down, sometimes you go casual sometimes you go formal.
Don't cuss in church or in front of those who would be offended by it like my elderly aunt because that would really piss me off.
You get the idea.

There are a handful of scriptures that confirm this. Cursing implies a very bad attitude and we are commanded to be of good cheer - never angry.

Cursing alone would likely never send one to hell but if you wish to glorify God you will get this awful habit under control.

I don't think of it as a sin, but if you hurt someone with your words it is.
