What is the statutory age for an American citizen to marry?
My American teacher told me that American can marry at any age, even a ten-year-old girl can. As long as her parents permit.
Is it true?

"The horrors of the twentieth century are largely the result of the influence--however distorted--of the great atheist thinkers of the nineteenth century: Darwin, Nietzsche and Marx."

Note the word "distorted" (as in Darwin's influence on Nazism and Marx's on Stalin etc.)

And to get something else out of the way: of course it goes without saying that Christianity (or its distortion) played a part as well, particularly in the horrors of Nazism--e.g.Christian anti-semitism of both the Catholic and Lutheran variety, the racist distortion of Jesus' teachings by some of the Nazis, etc.

it seems many think because they or other don't believe as Christians then Christians will "burn them at the stake"...or some other ridiculous thing...how many years ago did that stuff happen...but it seems the Christians of today are the exact same Christians that were then...isn't that just a narrow point of view on Christians...

The book of Jesus, surely the founder of Christianity would have written something down right "wrong" why is it that we don't see a book of Jesus or even some brief writings? Wouldn't you think the founder of Christianity would have written something down for further generations to see? All we have of Jesus Christ his what he illegally said, from people who knew him or knew of him!

This is going to sound really ignorant and naive, but that's coz when it comes to this subject I am.

I have never been to a gay bar but I'm going out to the gay village in Manchester in a couple of weeks with my two straight female friends and a male friend who is gay, for no other reason than we wanted a night out where we could dance and talk and have fun without lecherous men hitting on us. Since this was arranged I've split up with my husband but that is still the purpose of our night out coz I'm still not going out on the pull for some time to come.

But it got me thinking, coz sooner or later I may want a new man in my life, (I haven't ruled that out), but any new man would have to be comfortable around my friends and family including the gay one's. So would a gay bar be a good place to look? Coz obviously if a straight guy is there he's very secure in his own sexuality (unless of course he's in denial) and is more likely to be the type of guy I'd like to get to know.

I would never create a hell. I would never punish anyone in agony forever over mistakes they made in life.

Does that make me more merciful than god?
If so, then the statement "god is most merciful" is wrong, and therefor religion texts are wrong

If Christians took over the United States and rewrote the constitution so that freedom of religion became freedom of Christianity, what would they do with all of the pagans, Muslims, Jews, Atheists and homosexuals?

Do you think they would imprison non believers? Would they excute them? What do you think would happen?

Why do the Latter day saints keep trying to convert me Saturday morning when I'm trying to sleep? I told them that I don't believe in god and then they tried to convince me otherwise. It pains me to tell them to **** off every time but it's something I need to do every time because they just won't leave my front porch. Does this make me a bad person? Or just another human being with beliefs of his own who doesn't want some guy trying to impose his beliefs on me? Especially at 7am on a Saturday morning.

You can’t punish someone for something they have no control over.

What is someone just does not believe in god, or believes a religion that is wrong.
There is no malicious reason for it. It is not like they “reject” god cause they WANT to sin and party with satan.
There is no spite, no malice, in fact they think they are doing the right thing, or what god wants….
But they just got it wrong.

So how can you reconcile a merciful god, with punishing people for being wrong on accident?

Remember that we have many partners in serving God. We are linked together in an eternal community of faith.

When we work for God, we never work alone.
