No I don't believe that is true at all. I had to cross a state line
to marry in another state, because I was not 21. Which used
to be the standard age for most states. In the state in which
I would be married, the legal age was only 18. And this is in
the south, where they used to be known for marrying young
at one time. So it depends on each state and what their law
is on the subject. Teachers don't know everything, I'm afraid.
Once my sons' teacher told him, he didn't know how to spell
his middle name and scolded him. When he told me, I was
livid. I wrote her a scathing note and told her he did know
how to spell his name. It was her ignorance that there were
two ways of spelling it. And asked her if she'd ever heard of
the movie star with that same spelling. I never heard a word
back. So your teacher needs to read up on the laws of
legally marrying, before she can claim to be an expert on
statistics as she was trying to be when she made that state-
ment.

A 10 yr old girl is no more able to marry and have sexual relations than a 10 yr old boy!!!! Any man over the age of 16 could be prosecuted for even dating a 10 yr old girl. Any parents that gave their consent to such a union should also be prosecuted and thrown in jail. So you see, any man even meeting an underage girl with any kind of relationship in mind better think about getting an adult woman.

no, 10 is not acceptable! Usually it is age 18, but 16 with parental consent (depending on the area/state). There are laws protecting children from marrying at 10 - that's called rape!

It depends on the state but the youngest I ever heard was 12.. and I am sure that law isn't on the books anymore, its probably 16 now. I found a site with age of consent by state:
http://www.coolnurse.com/marriage_laws.htm
p.s. check the New Hampshire law I was close!!

When my youngest Aunt was 13, her boyfriend begged her mother (my grandmother) to allow him to marry the girl before he went off to the war. He promised my grandmother that the 13-year-old could "remain at home and finish growing up," but that he "did not want to lose her to somebody else while he was at war." (Sigh! True Love!)
My youngest Aunt is now 65, and they have remained married for all those years (52). They are as much in love today as when he first proposed. She has never had to work, and he drives her anywhere she wants to go. (Her husband is retired now.)
I once asked if he had any brothers my age. (Nope) !!!

No, that is not true. In the US, those laws are determined state by state.

I am sure it is 16 with parental consent. 10 is morally wrong as much as it is illegal.
