it seems many think because they or other don't believe as Christians then Christians will "burn them at the stake"...or some other ridiculous thing...how many years ago did that stuff happen...but it seems the Christians of today are the exact same Christians that were then...isn't that just a narrow point of view on Christians...

yes i can admit there are people who still tell people they are going to burn in hell...however i am not one of them...and they are only speaking words so that has to be some progress even if its not the kind you are looking for...but there are extremes on this site from both sides...i get embarrassed at some things some Christians put on here...

I like to think that I don't have a narrow view of anyone, Christian or Pagan or Jew or Atheist, just because of who they affiliate themselves with. I try very hard to treat every individual the way I would like to be treated (though I'm as human as the next person). As a Neo-Pagan, I of course haven't been threatened with burning, but I have lost jobs, lost friends, have been excommunicated from family, have neighbors that won't talk to me, and have had very rude things done in public to me when all I've done is wear or display a pentacle. My boss wears a diamond cross every day at work, and I can't afford to lose my job by trying to assert my right to free speech. I know many Pagans/Wiccans/Witches have a chip on their shoulder sometimes, and y'know, if you lost your job and had severe hardships placed unfairly on you as a result of someone not accepting your religious choices, it's natural to be resentful. When something like that happens to me, I petitition my Gods for justice, awareness and tolerance, and then I try to let it go and not allow myself to be consumed with hate. But it can be damn hard sometimes.

And I don't think Christians today are the same as they were 50, 100, 500 years ago. We all change every day. Everyone in this culture has for example felt the pressure to be celebrity conscious, because these days even traditional media feels it's huge news when Britney Spears does something silly. I think there's more focus today on knowing other people's business than there was 20 years ago. And I think that invades people's religious attitudes and encourages less than tolerant behavior in Christians and Pagans and Jews and Atheists. Not saying any one person in those groups has that quality, but it's a movement. There's this pervasive need to blame someone for something that's happening. Teenage sex, for example. How many folks on either side of the debate sound "holier than thou" when discussing their views? I don't care what you call yourself - that isn't a spiritual attitude.

Actually, most don't. It's really the other way around. Christians refuse to be open-minded and try to understand why other people believe the way they do. They refuse to learn about it, instead they go around screaming, "You're going to Hell!" or worse and generally making @sses of themselves. If those narrow-minded Christians (now I'm not saying all are narrow-minded) who do this would take a short time and get an education about other beliefs, then not only would they be more civilized, but they'd be more open-minded and accepting of other people.

They make pagans and atheists out to be evil because they refuse to learn about others. That makes THEM the ones with the narrow view, not pagans and atheists. But since most Christians prefer to remain uneducated about other people, of course they're going to believe that it's other people who have the narrow view.

But we know who the ignorant are. And it isn't the atheists or pagans, because we know more about Christianity than most Christians do.

I have never I repeat never told anyone that they were going to burn in hell.A proud self-righteousness person stirs up strife and that come from all people! Not just Christians! Everyone should do a self examination of their own inner thoughts and perceptions. If you are an atheist: Do you, have you ever come into this site and push your thoughts on others? Do you come here for the sole purpose of degrading, and slamming the Christians? Then you are narrow minded, Christians do you feel that you must tell others that they are horrible people and they are going to burn in Hell? Wouldn't it be better to just pass by their questions? Ignore them. Don't be narrow minded! Pagan's don't you think you can just live and let live? You can celebrate your holiday's and let us celebrate ours. Grow up! Don't be narrow minded! Peace be with you.

Actually, I think if this country became a theocracy, and the reigns of which were held by conservative, fundamentalist christians, I believe that the more moderate and liberal christians would suffer just as much as the non-believers. It would be the same thing as a police state and the smart people - non-believer and christian - would leave the country rather than live under as system such as that.

Zuzanna Budapest, a feminist pagan author, was doing a reading at a public library when a Christian group actually erected a stake and picketed the library saying "burn the witch".

What view are we non-Christians supposed to have? What about the minister who pickets the funerals of fallen soldiers saying they died because god is punishing the USA for it's tolerance of homosexuality?

I got my narrow view from your actions.

Unfortunately it is because most Christian are still thought that any religion other than their own is wrong and evil. It is sad that we still have people that are so closed minded. I know I have met a few. I have had reactions ranging from "that's cool" to mild disgust: to the "your going to burn in hell" and my personal favorite "Your a Witch. OMG your Evil I'm going to die" (said with their fingers in the sign of the cross). All religions need to teach religious tolerance. Its a dream for the future.

Why do many Atheists and Pagans have narrow view of Christians?

Yes it is correct , they do have ,

But all that Atheists are a product of The Bible's countless contradictions , illogical and un-scientific statements.

You Pagans have tried to create something from which you dont understand. You claim to be Christians but do not know the term nor what your CHRISTIANS fathers done throughout the world in history, murder, War and bloodshed using the name of Christ. Did Christ ever murder anybody who did not believe his words? NO. But you people still do not understand that Christ spoke about you people or Pagans/Gentiles. You claim to be Christians but do not follow the word like the true christians. You still support the evil that ia about today. Christianity is for the Hebrew Israelites, you people worship false idols

I don't think anyone feels they are goingto get burnt at the stake, that was then and it is history. I personally think that it is down to the person, there are atheists and pagans that go too far in making their point and the same for Christians.

I've seen very intelligent and very obnoxious in both camps.

No, burning at the stake we attribute to Catholics. You must admit though, several Christians have pointed out that athiests will burn in hell etc.

That kind of response doesn't exactly make for progressive dialogue.
