Why do the Latter day saints keep trying to convert me Saturday morning when I'm trying to sleep? I told them that I don't believe in god and then they tried to convince me otherwise. It pains me to tell them to **** off every time but it's something I need to do every time because they just won't leave my front porch. Does this make me a bad person? Or just another human being with beliefs of his own who doesn't want some guy trying to impose his beliefs on me? Especially at 7am on a Saturday morning.

You are lying. Missionaries live and work according to a strict timetable. They get up at 6 and spend an hour in private scripture study, then companion study and prayer. They do not start proselytising until 9.30 a.m. and they end at 9 p.m. because they have to get home and be in bed by 10.30. They would not be calling on you during unreasonable hours.

A simple "no thank you" will usually suffice and those Elders will not call on you again, but missionaries do not keep records of homes where they have not been invited in, so when those missionaries are replaced (they move every four months or so) the next set will probably call on you again because they don't know that the previous ones did. If you live near them and they don't have a car, you may well see them three or four times a year.

Easiest way to stop them calling altogether is to invite them in - really - and listen seriously to what they have to say. Once they have delivered their message, and you have considered it, if it isn't for you then tell them this. They DO keep records of places where they taught but the gospel was not accepted and they, and those who follow them, should not call again.

When they knock on doors they are asking householders to listen to their message, and they will keep asking until you do. If you've already heard what they have to say, and they have a record of this, then they will no longer need to call on you.

7:00 in the morning is really no way to convince a person about Christianity. I'm a Christian, and I feel for you.

Now if I was to call you a bad person, that would go against my Christian beliefs. No Christian is perfect, we all have sinned, so for me to say that you are bad would make me a major hypocrite.

And even though you say you don't believe in God, you say it pains you to tell them to **** off. You feel guilt. I believe the Holy Spirit makes you feel this way.

I know I got a little preachy there, please forgive me. And besides, Christians do the same thing when salespeople call us at 6:00 when we're having dinner.

I excepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior 20 years ago and they are still trying to convert me to their beliefs. I don't hold judgment toward you as to whether you are a good or bad person. You may decide to convert some day. Just be sure that it's because you feel drawn to God in your heart and not out of a feeling of guilt based on past experiences.

You are no bad person for wanting to sleep in the morning and for holding on to your own beliefs and way of thinking.
For me it was enough to tell them that I am a satanist, and they never came back
