If Christianity was so simple there wouldn't be so many interpretations of the Bible would there?
If it were so simple we could just believe in the Golden Rule and forget about the Bible, couldn't we?
Remember what Mahatma Gandhi said about Christianity? "I'd would have become a Christian if it weren't for the Christians.."
IMHO, Christianity isn't simple because it isn't simple keeping track of all those lies.
Jesus said "If thou ask anything in my name I will do it" John 14:13,
Well, in Jesus' name I don't want to get any more Y/A violation emails.
Try it and see if it works!

The point is there is not one answer that would satify you. The simpliest answer that I can give you (most of the time is the best) is that Christianity is about Love. The Bible is us a understanding of the love that he has for his people. Yes, there are metaphors. Yes, you have to do a little research in order to understand the Bible (in return, understand God). Yes, different people will view the same passage differently. That does not change what God is about nor does that change what he did for us. If you choose not to believe in God that is fine. I am not here to try and convince you other wise. I am here to answer your question to best of my abiltiy. The book is big because God's love is big. The book is complicated because God's love is complicated. The book takes on different meanings to each individual because God's love takes on different meanings to each individual. In the end, it's all about Love. His love for us (to include the ultimate sacrifice for our sins) and his desire for us to love him back (by asking for forgiveness and seeking a relationship with him).

I too have never heard anyone ever mention that believing in Christianity was simple. It actually requires three things:
1 Belief / faith
2 Actions, that in and of themselves are meaningless without number 1 above. Would include but not limited to: an active prayer life, loving your neighbor, helping the less fortunate, etc.
3 Study - Learning as much as you can about the attributes of God, learning Scripture
Nothing that is really worth anything is ever easy........

Protestantism.... isn't it beautiful... The Bible isn't meant to be discerned by everyone individually. If people were doing things right the Bible would not be their foundation. Looking at the Holy Scriptures Eph. 2:20 says Christ is the cornerstone the apostles and prophets teachings are the foundation.
This includes Holy Scripture but it is not the full foundation.

You state that the bible has misleading meanings, In my 37 yrs as a Christain I have not found one verse misleading, A carnal minded person will NEVER understand the Spiritual things of God, they are spiritually discern.. It takes a spiritual minded person to understand the spiritul things of God. & going to school to learn how to read the bible does not give you a spiritual mind, The only way to understand God's plan is by seeking God & Praying. A carnal minded person can NOT understand the spiritual things of God. BTW, I see the bible in a very simple way, it is not hard to understand with the spirit of God leading you.

Understanding the Bible isn't simple; being saved is. If you really are interested in READING the Bible, you could always get the Living Bible. It's a translation that is put into easy to understand language.

Even them christians of different sects/denominations argue over who is actually god, and who should or shouldn't be worshipped.
It's not that simple after all. It's more a confusing religion than anything else.

We have a saying: Its easy to say we are Christians but it is another thing to be one...I suppose its the same as "easier said than done". Being a Christian is not simply saying I believe in Christ, being a Christian is embracing the truth about God through His son Jesus Christ. Being a Christian is understanding who God really is and what he really wants or expects of us. Being a true Christian is a total reprogramming of your way of thinking and therefore your way of life. It was never easy, it was never simple. We live in a world of compromise, a world of deceit. A world who teaches us that its ok to do anything we want so long as it feels good and we are happy. Ofcourse God wants us to be happy, but He wants us to be happy within His grace, within His truth. The Bible is not a confusing book. There's nothing in it that contradicts the other. The old testament was written as a historical basis of what is to happen when the son of God comes to earth, on how we will be able to recognize Him. The new testament on the other hand just complements what is written in the old testament. It will just be very hard to understand to those people who are hard of heart. Those who refuse to accept that they are capable of sin. Those who are arrogant, who thinks they know better. The word of God, his message will only be revealed to those who have a humble spirit open to accept His word. Why? because it will surely convict the person reading it and if you don't have a ready heart for it, you will just simply refuse it and find it confusing.
Jesus needs to use parables because people on those time are poor of spirit or weak of spirit, same as we are now and therefore He needs to reach them in that level. He cannot say things directly but through those parables He was able to reach their spirit, their conscience. But He also said all this will be revealed to you in time, meaning, one's you have accepted and you have open your heart to Him, you would understand the essence of His message. To every Christian, all passage of the Bible have different meanings to them, it all depends on how we apply it to our lives. From there, we hear Him speak to our hearts.
Christians go to Bible school not to learn "how to read" it but to learn more how to understand and apply it to their lives and to share it to the world. Jesus gave us a command, go forth and spread the good news to all the peoples of the world, meaning to both the Jews (chosen race) & gentiles (that's us) alike. So it's like preparing oneself before the battle.
