Actually, this already is a "Christian" nation, in the respect that the majority of voters in this country identify themselves as such.
Luckily, the majority of them don't actually practice the religion. They think they do... but they don't.
But if the right-wing fundamentalists did take over this country somehow, my prediction is this:
They wouldn't murder people. Although some radical factions would endorse this, the majority would not.
They WOULD imprison "sinful" people, and "re-educate" them to cure them of the "gay" and such. (Name your sin, they'll have a program for it)
They would also censor the media and eliminate any scientific findings that worked against their beliefs, as well as any philosophies, ideas, etc.
This unfortunately, is also what some of the atheist governments are currently doing to religious folks in some parts of the world. It really is a shame.

Hi Blue,
Just watch the Moral Majority! Jerry Falwell and his crew are getting closer to achieving a church and state amalgamation.
I believe that it will only take a few more natural disasters to hit the USA and they will be crying out for the nation to get back to church believing that these disasters are God's punishment for the nation's waywardness.
The political clout that this group already carries is bordering on standover tactics. George W. would not be President but for the clever manipulation of the Florida vote instigated by these people.
America beware! You are heading for a religious upheaval that will defy your constitutional rights.
Watch the news!
H'chat.

Then it would be a theocracy.
What do I think would happen? I, and I believe many other people who do not believe in christianity, would leave the United States for countries who are more open-minded. I would go north to Canada or to my husbands native England. I think that if that ever were to happen, the United States would soon no longer be a world superpower.

i don't think of i can provide a citation yet, in my assessment, the main important element became into the liberty. whether or not one wanted to have a definite faith or whether that person wanted faith in the 1st place, the alternative became into the guy's. the belief became into separation between church and state it somewhat is why church homes are not getting taxed. various the founding fathers have been Christian and informally they form of was hoping inwardly that others could have confidence as they believed yet, technically, they figured the guy had the nicely suited to his or her ideals and not have the government intrude. Freedom of religion or freedom FROM faith? i think of it became right into slightly of the two.

They would probably round us all up and put us in camps. And they would put us to work building new churches. But seriously, if that happened, which I doubt ever would but just in case, I would move. I actually considered moving when the idiot was elected to a second term, but decided to stay put. I would rather leave my home country, however, then be forced into any form of religion.
~~EDIT~~
To acaia20: Ummmm....WWI started a little bit earlier that 1942. Actually, WWII was almost over by 1942. WWI actually started in 1914.

Before I answer this question, I want to let you know that I am a Christian.
Not only do I believe that non-believers would be imprisoned, i believe that the Government would tell all other Christians how to worship, when to worship, etc. And If these Christians didn't conform, they would be sent off to prison as well, and yes, execute them.
Contrary to what you may have been told, God does not want to force you to love Him, He wants you to choose Him willingly. So for the Government to force people to believe in God would go completely against His wishes.

yes. i would get out as fast as possible because that is what revelation is talking about. without the first amendment we have no freedom of religion. when the christians get the word they will rise up and kill us all who don't believe. that's what the rapture crap books say and their damned bible tells them to do. another possibility is the aliens who the bible will come back, take their followers and turn them into supersoldiers, send them back on earth to kill us. just like x files. anyone who believes in the bible is too gullible not to believe that scenario as well.
if god doesn't want to force people to worship him then why did he order 3000 of moses' people killed for making a statue.
christians like the death penalty.

Go to the library...look for a book entitled "Nazi Germany"...turn to the section titled "Final Solution to the Jewish Question"...
Now you know why Israel's motto is: "Never Again".
Our Founding Fathers were far from stupid. They knew what establishing a state religion would result in...chaos.

They wouldn't go to those extremes. I imagine they would require Christian religion to be taught in schools. Abortion and the death penalty would be outlawed. Possibly laws that prohibit non-Christians from running for office. All TV shows not reflecting Christian values would be taken off the air. The internet would be regulated. Porn would be outlawed. All cars would come with a Jesus fish.

lol...that will never happen as people are getting smarter and smarter and just can't believe in a god that was once pleased with animal blood sacrifices or a god that needed the blood of Christ to wash sins. Christianity is on its way out!
