A young friend of mine is getting married at the end of November, she has been setting up her own wedding (to save money) and handling all the details with her fiancé. This week she received notice from her family members stating that due to their ‘Christian’ beliefs, they will not be attending her wedding or her reception.

This is something I simply do not understand. This woman isn’t a complete radical; she’s not a nudist, she doesn’t live in a hippy colony, she doesn’t sell drugs or internet porn, she doesn’t even broadcast her religious beliefs unless you pin her to the wall. I can understand not wanting to participate in a religious function if it would conflict with your own; but to totally refuse to attend your sisters, daughters, neice’s, or cousins wedding and reception simply because you are Christian and she isn’t totally astounds me.

I was wondering if I am missing some kind of ethics, or if this young lady’s family just has bad manners.

And blame this on religion; yet when Stalin and Kim Il Sung have done things, they're not so keen to criticise? Could it perhaps be that evil things can be done either 'in the name of religion' OR of atheism?

A question I saw earlier made me curious so here we go. I would like those who think that pagans/wiccans are such terrible people to give the reason behind your judgment without accusing them of Satan worship or throwing versus at them. I would really like to know what it is about these beliefs that make some people go nuts. Also think about this, say you have a friend you have known for years that you really care about and one day he/she comes out of the "broom closet" and tells you hey I am a Pagan/wiccan, how would you react?

Many going with "it is finished" in John 19:6 seem to miss what James 1:15 says about "it is finished": it brings death.

John 17: first "finished" = win (human race)
John 19: second "finished" = "place"

Give "place" to devil?

Give "place" to death?

Doesn't matter who wrote it but why adhere something that is not verifiably true? Doesn't that make us look weak in the face of scholarly criticism?

For those that say "if you don't say anything rude you don't have anything to worry about," have you noticed that for the most part I try not to insult people with my posts? In reality, that isn't the reason most of my posts get reported.

The posts that get deleted are the ones where I take the Jewish perspective and compare it to Christian ideology. When I point out why Jews are biblically correct for not accepting or believing in a savior, and point to what they've always believed were the prophecies that actually identify what their messiah would be and do while on Earth. Those are the ones that get reported and deleted. Can anyone tell me why?

I know this is highly unlikely during the Queen's reign as she blamed Edward VIII (apparently) for her own fathers early death. Will this title ever be used again or will it remain redundant. Or can it be conferred separately on one person or must be two people?

We would want to be apart from God if he existed, yes (because he's evil). But that doesn't mean we want to be tortured. And no, being apart from God wouldn't be torture for us. Why can't he keep us apart from him and not torture us?

i think it would be fair to say that christians for the most part are very apprehensive about even considering the idea that any god is above theirs. right? the mere notion of someone walking up to one and asking them to accept a different god as their lord and personal savior would just seem absurd to them. however, if a christian were to walk up to an atheist, trying to spread the gospel and expect the atheist to convert to christianity, they rest on the notion that the atheist is being absurd. you might as well call logic and reason our god if you want to label us as being religious. and anyone trying to get us to accept a different god is just absurd. does that make sense?
