When was God cruel? He gave everyone a choice to believe in Him or not. He is not responsible for all the bad things that happen...Satan is.
In the Bible, when God told the Israelites to destroy cities, there was a reason behind it...those cities had the same opportunities to believe and follow God, just like all of Abraham's offspring...and Noah's. They chose to believe in Ashtoreth, and other false gods, including those that demanded the lives of their children, to be burned on the images...Molech was one of the names of that one. The false gods were all manifestations of Satan or his fallen angels.
God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for their immorality...they refused to repent and became violent seekers of that immorality...much as our society today.
The bad things that happen to good people are not from God. The good things that happen to bad people may not be from God either.
You have nothing to worry about if you are an atheist, on the final day of this world, your choice to be separated from God forever will be granted. By His Grace and Mercy, He is not cruel, and knows that it would be eternal torture for someone who does not believe in Him to be forced to live with Him in Paradise.

I don't think I've ever met a Christian who thinks that all Atheists are bad and immoral people. Just as not all Christians are good and moral people. I have several friends who are Atheists, but I'd never say that they were bad people. However, there's no such thing as God's cruelty. Just because He doesn't intervene every single time something bad happens, that doesn't equal cruelty. If nothing bad ever happened to us, how could we appreciate the good times? Without darkness there is no light.

Wait a second. Maybe you don't understand. Atheists don't believe there is a God. Why would you be outraged at an imaginary creature for something they can't possibly be doing because they don't exist? That doesn't even make sense. Agnostics are unsure if there is a God. Atheists believe there is NO God. You must be something else. Your questions don't fit from an atheist perspective.

How can you be "outraged" by the cruelty of something that you believe does not exist?
...
My point ... while I understand (and agree with) the underlying premise of your question ... that there is something contradictory about using a cruel and capricious God as a model for moral behavior ... it doesn't sound like you have really worked out your own atheist beliefs yourself, but are simply challenging the beliefs of others.
If people would spend half the amount of time working on their own spiritual beliefs and moral behavior as they spend attacking *other* people's spiritual beliefs and moral behavior, the world would be a wonderful place.
We get enough of that from the fundamentalists.

If you do not believe in God why would you be outraged by Gods cruelty? God is not cruel, it's satan that bad,you are just decieved not bad or immoral. God always gets the blame for satans doings but if you do not know God how could you judge Him?

If this is the way you feel and all atheists do, then you are not atheist but an agnostic. You say you do not like what God is doing then recognizing God is there in you. Hmmmmm? looks like a crack there in your Question. And I never said Atheists are immoral or so bad just misguided, and I Love them all as so does Our Father.

Religion is not necessary.Spirituality is.I will never buy all of that zealotous radical stuff to believe a dead criminal was resurrected to be God...That's retarded in regards to the evolving moral standards of todays maturing society. We see the Muslim terrorists teaching that they can get to their version of heaven by blowing people up and killing Americans. That is really out there! We know that it is not right.Or do we?Is it not just as crazy as dead criminals rising from the tomb??So which freak is right?People in this country are drilled from birth with this radical religious crap that just isnt true. This country is under Christian oppression as they are trying to influence everything to be as they believe. This comports with their need to CONVERT as many as possible before this resurrected dead criminal returns.....How about just believing as you wish and let people be?Why does the Atheist need to be criticized?Because the radical Christian zealots think if it is not like they believe, then it is wrong.POLITICS!And they will do anything they can to "rid" society of "sinners".I'll tell you this Pal,NONE of these so called Christians could live in a world full of SAINTS!!!!!!Because then they would be held to those standards and the stuff you dont see them doing behind closed doors would make THEM the wrong ones.....
Hugs!

I don't say that atheists are bad and immoral. I say they are wrong about there not being a God, but that is about all.
...and if an atheist is outraged by God's cruelty, they aren't a very good atheist.....remember - there isn't a God, so it must be something logical, like man's doing.

hope...are you reading the question entirely? Atheist don't blame the cruelty of the world on God. They don't believe there is "god".
We are outraged at the detriments of religion and the ways it holds back our society and government.

Atheists: Make up your dividead minds:
- first you say there is no God at all
- then say we're outraged by God's cruelty
Mixing these things make you an oxy-MORON.
Getting high on law makes you high-mindead.
High-mindead no different than dble-mindead.
Not to mention your mention of God, and twice,
gives place to two Gods = forsaken: Ps 22...Mt 27.
Can we move on, from such Law vs Law,
to conversion is from Law Law to Grace.
Repeating Law is Law Law.
His Grace is NOT Law Law.
The Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
