I assume you're asking from a religious POV. I've read from some Christians that it's evil, along with other disciplines from Asia.
There are millions of believers who, due to a variety of physical ailments, cannot do any other kind of exercise. Yoga and Tai Chi have been a literal life saver for them.
Yoga, as a form of exercise and stretching, is a blessing to millions.

Basically yoga is very, very good for you, but there are some types of Yoga that are not.
One is called Kundalini Yoga whose exercises are designed to liberate the Kundalini energy. If you do it at a rate that does not allow you to adjust for it, ie push the exercises too far too fast, it will literaly blow your mind and you end up being childlike.
Tantric Yoga achieves its aims by sexual practices. A sort of when the earth moves lets try and find out where/ what I am game. Not only do you risk your health with it, but you render yourself vulnerable to possession.
Its a long time since I was into the Yoga thing, so there are doubtless others that would be best to avoid that I don't know about. Chose with care or check if the one you fancy is ok with the sites about that sort of thing

Modern yoga(as taught in the US) is mostly just an exercise program, like aerobics. The problem for Christians is the spiritual aspect. The spiritual side of Yoga is rooted in the Hindu religion. Yoga is a set of exercises and meditation that is part of the rituals dealing with being reincarnated. It is part of the physical (early) stages of their reincarnation cycle, designed to help a person get through the early stages.

Yoga in India is a Hindu spiritual practice. Yoga in the West copies the stretches and the breathing exercises, but does not necessarily include any spiritual aspect.

Yoga was originally an act of physical prayer and worship to the god Yogeshwara. A set action for a set response and was not intended as a form of exercise. Today people use it for exercise but the original meaning is the same. If you don't mind worshipping false gods then go ahead. Many Christians who are more enlightened wll not be invovled in it. :)

No, of course Yoga is not bad. Some Christians insecure with their own religion made a big deal out of it because Yoga classes were being offered in a :::gasp::: church...

Yoga as a workout is not bad. If you are a christian and you begin to follow the teachings, it can be a stumbling block.
