1) If we say that everything needs a Creator, who is the Creator of the God, and who is the Creator of the Creator of the God and so on?

2) If we say that God doesn't need to have a Creator, why does the universe need a Creator?

3) If God can be the first thing which occured, why can't the universe be the first thing which occured?

Thank you very much.

If something doesn't seem to make sense, you like to say that you don't pretend to know God's plan or that God works in mysterious ways. Would this explanation be acceptable for an actual person that you know, if they did something such as elect for your child to die a premature death, or decided to commit global genocide?

What about how the only communication we have to God is through "signs" or books written by humans? Why would God create a world, and then choose totally non-worldly ways to communicate to us? Would this be an acceptable explanation if we were talking about somebody other than your creator?

Why is it okay to make exceptions for God? Why would he even require them?

I want to find answers regarding good character being corrupted by bad company.
Also, im going to Mitchells to buy my first bible. Which one can I get? I need one with a 'topical' index, where I can look up problems Im having in my life and find what God says about them.

Any verses or places in the bible regarding which path to take, hanging out with the bad crowd, much appreciated.

Is it possible that similarities in design between different animals prove a common Creator instead of a common ancestor?

Okay, this isn't really a very serious question, but I thought it would be interesting to see people's thoughts on the matter.

In general, homophobia means fear of or hostility towards homosexuality, right? But if we look at the etymology of the word: "h omo-", Greek prefix meaning "the same", and "-phobia", Greek suffix meaning "fear". So technically, homophobia means "fear of things that are similar". Bearing this in mind, does that mean the heterophobia is fear of straight people or fear of things that are different? I know that it doesn't really exist, but supposing that it did, which would it be?

I know people are tired of the "Am I Gay?" or "What makes people gay?" question, but I need to know something. People say that its genetics and stuff. What if you never knew anything about homosexuality. For example, and I'm being honest here, I did not know homosexuality even existed until I turned 13. It just never came to mind. Not even heterosexual relationships were in my head. We don't talk about it at home so I found out accidentally on the internet. When I learned more about it, I started judging my own self, since I never wanted to go with boys. Look, I don't know if its just puberty, late genes, or some teen phase, but if you can understand what I'm saying here, it would really help all this confusion.

Simple question.
Multi-choice answer.
Anyone should manage this in one or two words.

If you feel like writing an essay then go ahead. I don't care. ^_^

Ok guys, you have to help me make a BIG statement. I left high school 7 years ago and have found out today that there will be a reunion next month. I was bullied badly at school because I was 4 stones overweight and as a result - had very little friends. When I left high school, I kept in touch with no one and moved to Paris. I made it my life's mission to drop the weight and be successful in life. I have now shifted all the weight and am a lingerie model, doing my masters at uni. I feel like this was the day I was waiting for, to shut up all the bit-ches that made my life a living hell. I have no clue what to wear or say to them to make a statement but all I know is that I want to leave them speechless (which I already know they will be when they see me) but I want to work it to the fullest effect. Please help guys - any suggestions (sensible ones) will be greatly appreciated!xxx

the reason im asking is becasue in most cases if you beleive in god you belive in a religion and most releigions basically have re-incarnation or a heaven or something else after this life rather. at the end of the day i hope that there is something else after this life but what if there is not? if you believe in something after this and there turns out to be nothing you probly would have lived your life differently here. knowing there isnt anything after this life you would live differently knowing you only get this one chance to do things. so do you belive its better just to believe this is all you get ( your time here on earth) or believe that there is more and whatever you dont do here you can do later on? which is the better outlook. i personally belive that if we belived that this is all we get we would all cherish life and others lives more becase we know once you or someone is dead that is it. life is all we get in this world. maybe it would stop alot of the violence

Is this the logic against Intelligent Design?

What if I say to you that I consider the notion of Intention as a non scientific concept that we created only for convenience, and so I reject the two implications Design => Intention and Intention => Human.

I replace them by Design => Direction and Direction => Laws (in human beings and elsewhere). So, the laws of nature can be responsible for an intelligent design. Direction is not scientific either, but it's not worst than Intention.

There is the added word "intelligent", but it is not a problem. The intelligence in human beings comes from the laws of nature. So, I also find natural to consider that there is a lot of intelligence in the laws of nature, which is not in contradiction with the possibility that they are simple laws.

It is wrong to assume that intelligence => non mechanistic or complex. Clearly, the intelligence in human beings is as mechanistic and simple as in the laws of nature. Anything else is just an illusion.

And now I've just heard that some people think that the cheif of police ordered the Stockwell shooting.

Do people make a conspiracy out of anything? Anyone would think that accidents and tragedies never happen.

Why do people always think there is something sinister behind everything?

Taking the easy option of "God exists because ive been told so", "This is right because it says so in the Bible"?

For me i find the interesting thing about life is that we can constantly learn new things. I like to explore and wouldn"t take anything on face value as an easy option.

The Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,

and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,

even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter,

for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble,

it's a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.

But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;

many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.

Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love;

for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment,

it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,

gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.

But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.

Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;

you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you,

no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be.

And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life,

keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

I just saw a question where someone asked what to tell their kid if he asks "Paw, why don't atheist have no faith in the lord?". I could not believe the terribly unkind things that were said to this person. To me it is irrelevant whether the asker was just being funny with his grammar choice, or if he was sincere in his simple way of speaking. I think it is only right to give the guy the benefit of the doubt and treat him with respect. If he is for real he deserves better than the arrogant way he was treated. I am so appalled at the arrogance of some people who seem to be so smug in their own righteousness that they think making fun of others is ok. Is mocking a persons ignorance of good speech and laughing at him the sign of decency?

The only other time in American History where a non-white person was used in US currency was the buffalo nickel. But he was replaced by Jefferson. The Sacagawea is being replaced by the Presidential $1 coin program. It seems the public doesn’t seem to favor any non-white person on their money. Why is this?
