In the same way as Jupiter was rocked two years ago by the million-megaton impact of the comet Shoemaker-Levy, so Earth was bombarded 12,000 years ago by the fragments of a similar celestial visitor. It caused tidal waves, the mass extinction of many prehistoric species such as the mammoth and sabre-toothed tiger, and turned the world dark for months.

Professor Alexander Tollmann, the author of the study and an internationally renowned geologist, said: “The consequence of the impact explosions appears to have included a chain of up to a dozen individual catastrophes, including earthquakes, geological deformation, a vapour of plume and tidal waves.”
So since earth's destruction can very well happen again, do you see your life snuffed out while beleivers are spared from GOD's wrath?
Don't mean to sound harsh but many of you say things Happened in the past it's natural for earth to destroy life I guess you mean it would be natural for earth to snuff out your life for eternity?

How else will those heathen Martians ever hear the word of God. Unless we convert them all, their souls will burn forever in the lake of fire.

Does anybody else think we should start raising money for a "mission" to Mars?

....St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus (also known as St. Therese of Lisieux), "the Little Flower" - Virgin and Doctor of the Church. Are you planning to do anything special to mark this Holy Day? How will you be remembering this pure saint of God in YOUR life today?

It was this humble nun who said:

"Without love, deeds, even the most brilliant, count as nothing."

OK, I finally accept Creationism is wrong, OK. So let's take a look at the "Big Bang" theory--I mean, c'mon. It's so obvious that this lack of information the scientists are encountering, their total bafflement is due to the fact that GOD DID IT! It was GOD!

With daily earthquakes, the Great Lakes dis-appearing, Jelly Fish infiltrating the, waters killling the fish Industry, the on-going crisis in the Middle East with the potential of Nuclear War

Solar Wind was directed at earth 9/27 and solar wind stream flowing from the indicated coronal hole should reach Earth again Oct. 3rd.

Sept. 28th, solar wind stream hit Earth during the flight, sparking a geomagnetic storm and scientists think volcanic and earthquake eruptions.
Hundreds of scientists around the world are working on projects to try and intercept asteroid 99942 "Apophis" and predict its trajectory more accurately. Experts have announced that the object "could" hit Earth on April 13th, 2029. The impact would unleash a cataclysmic explosion "100,000 times" more powerful than the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

The rise of Atheism in the world- Is it just coincidence that these events are also predicted in Biblical Prophecy.

The Buddhist idea that suffering arises from desire and that we can alleviate suffering by controlling our passions works to some extent, but there is still suffering that arises from disease, accidents and other situations that seem faultless to the sufferer. I understand that Karma and reincarnation are sometimes put into the picture in this case, but if one has no foreknowledge of one's wrongdoing's in a past life, doesn't the belief in something intangible and unproven go against the Buddhist ideals of using ones head? Or is there a Buddhist ideal of using one's head? This is where Buddhism falls flat for me. At the point where one has to have faith in something unproven, a past life, one has to still use faith and not one's own head. I'm pretty sure that one of the main points of Buddhism is that we assume our past lives wrongdoing. I've been stumbling over this one for awhile and would really like the perspective of a Buddhist on it.

Think about it a few moments.
People argue enough about where life starts... with different opinions at different stages. Life ending tends to be a bit more simple... though there is still an element of uncertainty.

But what of the energy and matter that makes you?
It is being replaced all the time. A molecule that forms a part of "you" today might be in a river tomorrow... and another could have been part of a carrot yesterday.
How does one draw lines at exactly when something becomes part of you and when something ceases to be you?

And what of all other things?
It is the same with the rest of the Universe. The matter isn't created or destroyed.... but merely recycled, in a state of change. Eventually... every bit of matter which you consider a part of you at any point in your life could end up scattered all across the face of the Earth....

But is it you? Or is it any of the countless other things it has been? How are "You" distinct from the rest of existence?

Im 1/2 mexican and white. Alot of people can tell I have any hispanic and to top things off I dont KNOW any spanish.

My husband and his friend would make alot of racial jokes about hispanic people, mostly Mexicans and it made me uncomfortable but shy me never said anything.

He asked me one time what my background was and it totally caught me off guard so i just said, to see his reaction, that said I was 1/2 Cuban and white. He said that was okay, and went on about how Mexican people were different than other hispanics and no one wants to be Mexican or somethin along those lines. I planned to tell him I was actually 1/2 Mexican but that freaked me out a bit so I just left it at that.

Im not denying my hispanic side, my friends know what I am, its just since that stupid lie I dont want to go back and say "oh that was a lie"...what should I do??? Im a little afraid of his reaction...though I know he loves me more than anything.

Supposedly, God can only be felt with faith, and the Bible can only be understood when it's read in faith. So basically, the only way to believe in God is to simply believe in him.

Doesn't that make it impossible for a human being to convert another human being to Christianity? Wouldn't God be the only being capabable of causing a person to have faith out of nothing?
