You have a good point. There is a scripture that responds to this well.....
4 For when one says, I belong to Paul, and another, I belong to Apollos, are you not [proving yourselves] ordinary (unchanged) men?
5 What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Ministering servants [not heads of parties] through whom you believed, even as the Lord appointed to each his task:
6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God [all the while] was making it grow and [He] gave the increase.
7 So neither he who plants is anything nor he who waters, but [only] God Who makes it grow and become greater.
(1 Corinthians 3:4-7) AMP
And another that says that Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our Faith. (Heb. 12:2)
This naturally goes to say that Jesus is the one whom our faith is based on...where it's derived from...and who gives us more in the first place as also He can increase it.(Luke 17:5)
Yes God is the only one who is ultimately capable of "converting" a person. That's His job. But we are laborers for Him (as Christians) and He uses us to help break up the fallowed ground"(Hosea 10:12) plant seeds and water them in people all over. Out of love for Him and love for our fellow man.(Matt. 9:37-38) But It's not our job to MAKE anyone do anything. That's not of God anyway. He's in control, yet not Controlling. :)
Very good question. I liked it.
God bless :)

It is true that God is the only one who can convert a person, but he first allows us to freely choose him. Then when we do choose him he fills us with his Spirit and Oh, boy, what joy and peace fills us!
Thus, it is the joy of the Lord that gives us the strength and knowledge that he is. This increases our faith in him and keeps us through all trial and through all persecution.
But as I said we need to choose him of our own free will first and we do this by simply saying, "God, I believe you are Jesus Christ and I am willing to serve you all the days of my life."

Not only Christianity, but any belief. If a person is wanting to know more about a religion or belief system, your role is to inform, testify why you choose this one, and NEVER force it. Individually, it is up to us to choose what we believe, and further research on how to walk accordingly by those principles. As a Christian, you choose to convert, no one can force you.

People are convinced to have faith in all sorts of stuff all the time for no reason at all. Is it impossible to get someone to believe in unicorns without God causing it?
Do you think every con-man has God working on his behalf?
No God-induced miracle is necessary for people to believe in stuff.

As a Buddhist I'd say that belief and conversion come from the mind. If your mind is such that you believe firmly in Christianity then that's your belief. If you don't and believe in the logic of another system, say Buddhism's logic, then you do. Either way, as long as the religion, philosophy, etc. teaches you altruism, wisdom and compassion and you can understand it, that's what's best for that person.

Hi, Just for You:
Trying to have enough faith is like trying to lift yourself by your boot straps--we do not even do that. You see, faith is a gift from God who "gives to each man a measure of faith."
And that faith can be presumptuous, too. Remember that Jesus said many will tell Him they worked miracles and cast out demons in His name--I never knew you", He said.
And it is the Holy Spirit's work to convict us of sin, righteousness and judgment. It enables us to live the Christian lifestyle.
So, We can not convert someone, or ourselves. That is God's work. We must submit to His leadings in our life. And that "measure of faith" will be increased as the "saint" remains faithful and increases in knowledge of Christ our Savior.
There is more on how one is saved when you break the hidden Bible code, sealed until the "end of the days." See http://abiblecode.tripod.com
Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

God does the heart work, but He uses us preaching to speak the Gospel that they believe.
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God spoken, in God's system, by us. We are His people to speak the truth of the Gospel that they believe.

Don't forget infecting them with small pox and enslaving them.
edit- Also, notice almost all Christians were born into Christian families. That doesn't help your case. If what you're saying was true, you wouldn't have to brainwash them since birth.

Yes. You can't force anyone to fall in love with someone else either.
