I don't know how old you are, I'm 44. Growing up, my parents didn't have much money and we never owned any store bought toy guns or knives. We made our own and played bad guys and good guys. It is part of human nature and kids will make some sort of weapon from a stick or whatever. I am not a criminal and none of the kids I played with are. That's because my parents taught me values and morals and I know right from wrong. They taught me to respect others. Bottom line is not the toy, but what we learn from our elders and others that make us responsible and caring adults.

To expose them to what is happening in some parts of the world is not wrong. It does not mean they will go and live that life style, all kids grow up with toy guns etc. If you have a dysfunctional family situation, then consult a counsellor, firstly about your dysfunctional family surrounding and then about have particular toys that may influence violence. Because if a children grow up in a violent household there is a problem. So you need to sort it out so your children can be happy being on earth.
Got it!!!

I always had toy guns and knives when I was a kid. Then when I got to my teens I would always buy a real knife and then I started to buy pellet guns to kill birds. Now I'm older and I really don't care for those things and as far as I know I have not killed anyone yet. I would like to hunt a deer or something like that though.

It depends. Toys are fake. Kids need to use the real things so they can learn how to use them safely. If they already know how to use them, go for it.
I don't see how your claim they could go up to be criminals makes any sense at all. The more you victim disarmament people push gun and knife laws through, the more you try to dissuade people from teaching their kids how to use them, the more crime there has been. That's a statistical fact.

I think that kids have always used sticks, rocks and anything else that they could to make play weapons - the majority or them never turned into criminals. I would do some actual research into why criminals become criminals, I strongly doubt that it has anything to do with their toys.

I would say 95% of the men in the world grew up playing with toy guns or pretending to have guns. If you dont buy him any he'll probably just use sticks and stuff and pretend. It is normal for young boys to have imaginary adventures. It would not change how they turn out at all, they stop playing with them when school and all that starts because the education system saps your imagination.

I think it is perfectly ok for kids to play with toy guns and toy knives. They should be taught the proper use and safety at the outset.
Under your logic, real guns should be banned in the US because they might be used to commit a crime. This contradicts the 2nd Amendment.

I think the ethical code the child is reared with may be a more important factor. Not all criminals use or carry weapons.
