I want to find answers regarding good character being corrupted by bad company.
Also, im going to Mitchells to buy my first bible. Which one can I get? I need one with a 'topical' index, where I can look up problems Im having in my life and find what God says about them.

Any verses or places in the bible regarding which path to take, hanging out with the bad crowd, much appreciated.

I find the KJV to hard to follow. Although it has beautiful language. You might try the Revised Standard or New American. Both of these are written in (more or less) modern English. The New American Bible went back to the original languages (Greek, etc.) for a more faithful translation. You can sample the translations at www.biblegateway.com

First read Ps. 35. I like it because it tells about when you are surrounded by those who do not love God as you, or you feel are your 'enemies'. (Example; 35:1; " Please my cause, o Lord, with them that strive with me; fight against them that fight against me." In fact, read all of Psalms.
In Proverbs you find 'good vs evil'. Good reading, too.
Read the four gospels and you will find your answers, like, Matt.10:11-28. There are many places that tell you to stay away from sinners.
I use only my King James Version of the Bible since I was raised on it and understand it fine, but many prefer present-day wording. A bible with a concordance is a great help in finding scripture by one word. You can also log on to many websites to decide which is right for you, along with asking at any Christian bookstore. They can tell you which Bible does what. Also this website; http://www.crossings.com sells Bibles and explains each one.
Good luck and blessings in your walk with God.

Your looking for being unequally yoked some people take this as to mean in marriage only but its for every relationship that you have.2Corinthians 6:14. As a good translation for you to get would be the New King James Version I prefer that its in simple English without all the thy thou shants an so forth another version that you may want to check out would be the New International Version.

You will find much in Proverbs about good company/bad company. The light/darkness verse isn't bad either.

Personally, I suggest the New American Standard Bible. It is clear, succinct, no thees or thous, and very accurate. It is far more accurate than the NLT, and more clear than the KJV or NKJV. I use it, and find it more than useful (mine is the NASB Student Study Bible from Zondervan). Words in red are good, but not necessary.

God bless!

Well it is very good that you are interested in the Bible.

Almost all of the current translations are able to show you the will of God and what is required of you.

There are some variations in some of them , for instance, most have deleted the personal name of God - Jehovah.

Yes, God has a name ! :-)

Blind guides - wrong crowd - Matthew 15:14 KJV Study Bible
"Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch."

I have a Nelson King James Study Bible and in the back just after Revelation it has a list titled "Teachings and Illustrations of Christ." This will answer many, many questions for you and give you the Scripture.

I gotcha' Mundo....
Bad association spoils useful habits. (1 Corinthians 15:33)
Look at the example of Dinah - Genesis chapter 34. All sorts of bad occurred because she hung out with the wrong crowd.

You may want to get a separate 'topical' text.
I suggest the "New Living" translation. It is very easy to read without all the 'thou' and 'ye' and other Elisabethan language that you find in the King James and other older versions.

Get a red letter edition of the Bible, read the stuff in red and the verses above it and below it to get context.

Read 1Cor5. There is another scripture that states that "bad associates spoil useful habits" but I cannot find it. Later on I will update this comment once I find it.
*******
The scripture that I was missing is referred by the person after me.
Thank you Christina!
