Charles killed Diana?
Courtney killed Kurt?
Man never went to the moon?
Roswell (Project Mogul) was aliens?
And now I've just heard that some people think that the cheif of police ordered the Stockwell shooting.
Do people make a conspiracy out of anything? Anyone would think that accidents and tragedies never happen.
Why do people always think there is something sinister behind everything?

May I add, I don't think ALL conspiracy theories are make believe.
The only one I think that holds any water is the Kennedy assasination.

You forgot the conspiracy theory that states that other conspiracy theories are actually propagated by the government (or some black-ops secret organization) in order to discredit the little information that does leak out about the real secrets. Supposedly the Roswell conspiracy, and others, are just a red herring.
But on a more serious note (not that the above conspiracy theory isn't actually believed by some), it is so that people can have a sense of mystery in their life. It makes everything seems a little more dramatic if you are one of the few who believe in "the truth." People want to feel like they are in some action adventure story or the sort.
Unfortunately, humans make mistakes, which allow such conspiracy theories to exist. The government had a project to hide and kept changing their story, so Roswell became a conspiracy. People were too lazy to actually investigate the moon landing, so they concluded that it was a fake (despite the fact that you can see the American flag on the moon with a telescope).

Not everything but people sure have large imaginations. As for the going to the moon well I can tell u something about that. People way back then just found it so unbelievable they refused to believe Americana's went there the first time it happened. I guess u can apply this to all conspiracy theory's. My high school history teacher came up with that bit of logic.
As for JFK the President well that Lee Harvey Oswald guy killed him. I saw the proof on 60 Minutes. It was very interesting.

Going to warfare makes u . s . greater money. while usa of america is going to warfare they must borrow money from the numerous economic enterprise. In return the numerous economic enterprise gets those products of paper that for the duration of reality say I.o.u. additionally the owner of the WTC took out an coverage deal on the WTC. while the WTC is demolished the guy gets a stable sort of money. Many others have benefited off 911 Bin encumbered and suddam Husain's stay have been given worst after 9/11, suddam grew to become into somewhat hung. they did no longer income from 9/11. The dumbest conspiracy theory?? No it could be the least dumb and maximum convincing conspiracy theory's i've got ever heard.

"Credo quia absurdum" I believe it because it is absurd.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credo_quia_absurdum
It is said that President Eisenhower of the USA was startled when told that 50% of the US population were of below average intelligence. I'm sure that he realised pretty quickly that it must be true, not only of the US population but of every country. He was no chump. This fact explains a lot.
There are a lot of people walking around who are not terribly bright and not terribly well informed. (I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer myself but there are lots blunter than me.) So if they get hold of something that is simple and looks as if it might be true, they accept it as fact. This might be filled with logical fallacies and lies but they can't detect either.
Truth is rarely simple and scientific truth is even less likely to be "simple" and may be counter-intuitive.

Well, I think in our time, conspiracies as we are used to know them (kenedy-afair, moon, roswell etc) are pretty rare, since the press is aware of everything, it simply is everywhere. One can hardly avoid and manipulate everything, it would cost too much money, and there were too many insecurities.
Conspiracies are often, I think, but not at the large scale we usually think of.

JFK was a conspiracy fact anyone who doesn`t understand why is a moron but this is why Lee Harvey Oswald was dead when other people got taken out.
9 11 building seven proves this to be a inside job
Moon landing there is evidence on both sides but there is good reason to doubt that took place
There is strong evidence to show Courtney hired a hit-man so it is suspicious
Look when you understand that your lied to all the time thank God people with 100 times you simple brain power can spot things your obviously to thick to notice

because it is appealing to think that everthing/something wrong in the world is the responsibility of wrongdoers (it makes the world seem less chaotic) than can eventually be held accountable, called on their actions. It is also an ego boost to think that one has (relatively) exclusive knowledge of what is "really" going on, that one has more insight than the average folk who are thus "ignorant sheep," and that one has outsmarted the wrongdoers, the government and/or the elite who "think they got away with it."
finding meaning in a pattern of chaos, or otherwise inexplicable events, fits a rather human need to try to makes sense of things.

Just because it looks like a conspiracy theory doesn't mean it's not true.
You can lose the truth very easily today by hanging the conspiracy theory label on it.

because sometimes there is "evidence" that things were faked etc, for instance i read somewhere that Kurt Cobain had too much heroin in his system to even think about lifting a gun let alone shoot himself.
i've a good one for you the titanic wasn't the titanic it was its sister ship (a cheaper one, like easy jet for ships!!) apparently dressed up to look like the titanic for an insurance scam.
