hi aron, i don,t think there would be many, christians who would be lazy of learning, i think with most christians, they would be taught from an early age, when people become christians, you find that there, familys are christian, and the family before them, and so on

It's not "easy" like you think. It's easier to use what you
are motivated by as an excuse. People actually want to
be self-sufficient, it's in learning that this is not the case
and that God does exist that will promote one to
reality and true wisdom!
I enjoy learning/exploring God's creation,
learning is a part of who I am!
but there is a misunderstanding about the purpose of
God. God is not used to "replace science" or vice verse. Science should be for it's own practical purpose in life.
Love is more important than science and true love
is found in God, not in science!
Knowledge = power
Wisdom = perspective (better)
Love = purpose (best)
Sometimes Christians seem set in their ways because
they understand that God's character is much more
trustworthy than man's character. It is important to
question when appropriate, but it is not always
appropriate. It is important to stay on target in life
when one is sure one has a good and important thing.
Just because other's can't understand does not
mean that one should question!

I think you are lazy of learning about Christians. Why would you "assume" we believe because we've been told so? I learn all the time about God, about life, about science, history etc. Many Christians have amazing and insightful stories about how they became Christians and found Christ.
You say you like to learn new things and wouldn't take anything at face value, then why would you take a statement like "God exists because I've been told so" and apply to all Christians without learning the truth first?

I agree with you. At sunday school, as a teacher's aid the only thing I've seen the kids do to learn about God is a coloring page of Jesus. Take other religions where people incorporate their beliefs into their everyday lives and learn more about themselves. We need to start a Christian University I think.

How do you know they dont. This is one of the problems with this whole arguement.
Both sides assume a lot of things.
Maybe your lazy to find out just how much people do research.
And you can study the worlds religions and not believe and learn some good things. But again people would rather assume things.

That was one of the most eye-opening things for me when I left Christianity. All those nagging questions that I kept pushing aside for years -- because I wasn't supposed to question God and the Bible -- came pouring out when I finally left my belief behind. And I found my mind liberated, opened up to exploring things deeply, not being afraid to go wherever the answers may lead me.
The True Believer, on the other hand, will refuse to look for other answers. "God did it" and "It's in the Bible" are as far as they need to go. I do think it's lazy.

Yes, many Christians are too lazy to search out the truth. But the same could be said of any other group. It's to a person's shame that they would be lazy of learning.

When you say many, it is 40% or more. For example, you may believe that USA is in Iraq to fight terrorism. And you may actually believe so. Why? Because the media tell you so. You believe that 911 was done by terrorists. Why? Because the media told you so. You may believe that Iranian president is a bad president because the media tell you so.
Have you ever been in one of those place sor situations already mentioned to confirm that what the media tells you is true? No. You just believe. You believe in humans, Christians believe in God.
Does that make you or make them stupid?

You know, we could turn that around on the non-believers, and say they are too lazy to seek out God and learn the truth. It works both ways. But we do know that you're not too lazy to generalize about Christians.

People are the same about everything.
10% will feel they are just fine and don't need any tweaking
80% think they could do more but don't
10% read, get involved, etc..
it works this way for schools, volunteers, anything involving human beings .. if even 10% of the 80% would get onboard a lot more could be done!
