As a follow up from a previous question, the answers are divided on which comes first. (Not counting those who think self love is masterbation. Hehe.)

How can you give to others something that you don't have yourself? Self love is self acceptance. How could you accept a quality in others that you judge harshly in yourself? If you explore yourself deeply, you'll find that everything outside of yourself that you judge is a reflection of something you are rejecting within. This is how you recognize it in others. As the saying goes, "It takes one to know one."

If you find something distasteful in another, look within and you'll find it there. Accept absolutely everything about yourself, and you will find no fault in other. Love and compassion are found within and spontaneously expressed. Everything begins within as a quality of being. Don't do love, BE LOVE.

I was wondering why god talked to people when the bible was being written but god does not talk to no one anymore. Does this mean god is done with us now? What if god wants to tell the world something? Do we make a new chapter in the bible?

And yet if you ask them their opinion of the Catholic Church, they will list out all sorts of reasons why they hate it, and generally protest against it...

If they are so proud of their distinction from the Catholic Church, and so happy and willing to protest her, wouldn't they WANT to be called by the name of Protestant?

In America and Europe, the media/government/world affairs have created an image of Islam, as if to say "see this turban, this headdress, this beard, this skin, it stands for this, this and this, fear it". To what extent do you think this image corresponds to reality? For example, many people tell me that Muslims are commanded to kill infidels by their holy book (which actually, I was surprised to learn, is not in the Koran). Is Islam the CAUSE of violence, or merely the justification for it? In other words, if there were no religions in the world, wouldn't humans commit the same atrocities, except not bother tojustify them? My history teacher says "A hungry man will always kill, steal, and wreak havoc. His religion (islam?) will only affect how he chooses to justify it." What do YOU think? Thanks for all responses. :D

eg: if the deity has a tree hugging, earth saving nature - the devotees become very respectful of nature and its ways ( Wiccans and their Earth Mother Goddess)

If a deity is totally into death, war and destruction - the devotees become war mongers and anarchic hate-mongers ( Greek god Ares for eg)

Like in Christianity - Jesus' immediate disciples were pretty much like him - Gentle, Caring, Kind and Embracing, whilst Apostle Paul who has never actually met nor lived with Jesus in the flesh was pretty much like the "Old School" God who was wrathful, stern, inflexible

Hinduism - Devoted Wives that Worshipped the Goddess Sati, followed her example and sacrifice themselves to honor and show deep devotion to their husbands, just as Sati did.

I respect everyone's view, everyone's religious view point as long as it's honest.

I have noticed several patterns within religion and I'd like your thoughts on my thoughts

1. Most if not all say: Pray to God and he will show you truth, Muslims, Christians, JW's, Mormons...all say to pray & then God will show you what I believe is true. These beliefs can't all be correct, they contradict each other.

2. The Beginning of Religions Start with a Man: Most start with a man who claims to have exclusive insights to God: Jesus, Muhamand, Joeph Smith, and the endless list.

3. Religions have one of two Beginnings: One they just start with a man saying he has a revelation froma higher power/God or the other way is for a man to say: Yes this religion is right but after time it's fallen away from the orignal "true" meaning and I've been sent to straighten it out...Joesph Smith as an example of that one.

My point being why would the creator continue to use the same approach to man?

This question is for those that try to please God.

Do you feel that a person's way of dressing can give off wrong signals to others?
Do you think that a true Christian could convey their sentiments by always being dressed in a conservative manner - or - do you think that a person's way of dress has nothing to do with pleasing God?

Don't worry about answering each question individually - I'll understand where you're coming from

I mean, if intelligent design is true, then it doesn't seem very intelligent to make people so sensitive in non-essential parts of their body, like their teeth and under their nails...and leave vital parts like their brain without sensation. Wouldn't it be more intelligent to give us teeth like sharks, that grow after the old ones fall out, rather than giving us only two sets?

And if evolution is true, how come we still only get two sets of teeth, and painful ones at that, after all those centuries of the survival of the fittest? What on earth is the evolutionary advantage conferred by toothache? I mean I can understand why your finger feels pain--so you won't leave it in the fire or whatever. But your teeth?

Maybe they're both wrong--the theists and the evolutionists-- and it was aliens who started the whole thing (ones with a perverted sense of humor perhaps...)

"mercy, not sacrifice" is from Mt. 9:13. The Original Gospel promotes salvation through mercy--God forgives us when we forgive others. What's wrong with that formula for fogiveness?

If Jesus was saying "not scrifice," why was Paul preaching that sacrifice is the way? Source: http://gospelenigma.com

If you don't believe in God, why bother criticizing?? You are practically making God revolve around you when you try so eagerly to make fun of questions about Christianity saying its a "fairy tale" or fallible.

And I know this sounds so "christian cliche" but I'm beginning to think you guys somehow believe God is existant 'cuz there are so many things that are for sure NOT REAL, ex. Santa Claus, and I never heard people trying to BAN him in any sort of way, but when it comes to God and Jesus, you are offended???? And if it's because it is written that non believers will perish in hell, SO WHAT? right? YOU DONT BELIEVE IN HELL, so please explain why so a many of you are so ambitious to mock and expel Christianity?

Gypsy Curse?

I have reason to believe that our family was cursed by a gypsy woman two generations ago for an act of cruelty imposed by my great grandfather. Since then his children (my grandmother and great aunts and uncles) have suffered great misfortune and even premature death.
And it seems to be affecting us!

What can i do? Can i perhaps get it lifted by a white witch or ask for the forgiveness?

Please help?

I've had a lot of people in my lifetime kneel at my feet laying their hands upon me and asking for my forgiveness. Whether it's a group of homeless people in an ally or parents that have lost their children or just ordinary people with regret in their hearts as well as the elderly, rich and poor alike. I never know what to say to this people because they apparently see something in me that’s godly enough for them to do this. They refer to me as a Saint.

Can you imagine being in an ally, a million dollar home or some shack deep in the woods with people knelt at your feet pulling at your shirt and hands with tears in their eyes asking for your forgiveness, what would you say?

What exactly is a Saint?

Life is a game in which all perceptions arise out of nothingness in dualistic pairs that define each other. There is nothing absolute about either good or evil. You decide what is good based on what you fear and what is evil based on what you desire. The polarites are forever bound to each other as two sides of a coin or as the two ends of a stick, without which there is no stick.

One result of this is that, as you increase your experience of one polarity, your experience of both increases. Increase good and you increase evil. Increase evil, and you increase good. They must balance each other in our perception. Given that, what is there to be done?

Another result is that eliminating one polarity is to eliminate both. To put an end to evil is to abolish goodness from our experience. To put an end to fear....is to destroy love.

There was never a problem to begin with. Let it be. For God's sake, let it be.
