Scripture- The Bible is the inerrant word of God and is to be read as the earliest Christians read it: in the light of Tradition and under the guidance of those ordained to teach.

Tradition-the teachings which the Church has preserved and passed down from Christ, His Apostles, and the unanimous teachings of the early Church Fathers .

Magisterium - the teaching authority of the Church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The Church has 7 Sacraments -- "outward signs of invisible grace" and media of sanctifying grace. The Sacraments were given to us by Christ so that we may receive His grace and become more like Him. The Seven Sacraments are:

Baptism
Confirmation -Sacrament of the Seal
Eucharist
Penance
Holy Matrimony
Holy Orders
Extreme Unction

The Church teaches by looking not only at Sacred Scripture, but into History and by reading what the earliest Christians have written, what those who've sat on the Chair of Peter have spoken consistently with Scripture and Tradition, and what they've solemnly defined.
To believe that the Bible is our only source of Christian Truth is unbiblical and illogical

Never had any kind of reaction to any stings, not even itching. Normally just a little burn at the time, and a small whelt that goes away in a few hours. Got hit by a black hornet and now have a 5", swollen red area, with a large (1cm) yellow raised area in the middle, with fair size hole in the middle. Don't mean stinger size, I mean the size of a broom straw. Does this sound like a possible allergy developing? or just a real good sting (for the hornet anyway). I'd really appreciate any input, as my education is in surgery, not allergies or venom reactions. After 30hrs or so, I'm really surprised to be able to find the spot, much less have visible lesion.

If you are living in America, Why? If an American say's anything about your home country, you'll defend it, but you don't want to live there, you want to live in America, And then when you live here, you don't seem to want anything to do with Americans or our culture?
Please speak up I'm listening!

"The world is good. Prosperity is good. Life is good, and we should live it with joy and enthusiasm.

We are free to shape our lives to the extent allowed by our skill, courage, and might. There is no predestination, no fatalism, no limitations imposed by the will of any external deity.

We do not need salvation. All we need is the freedom to face our destiny with courage and honor."

Your thoughts please?

This came up in one of my earlier questions:

"Repentance is one of the most difficult things I've ever had to face spiritually. It's a complete nightmare. It's about looking into the depths of your soul and seeing the filth, disease and sickness that lie there, and having to admit that it's there because you put all of that garbage there yourself through your voluntary choice to commit sin."

Does this seem . . . "off" . . . to anyone else? To voluntarily see one's self in those terms?

I mean---your religion says you're a horrible, wretched whatever because of "sin" and then offers you a "cure" for what *it* says about you as long as you'll ADMIT and INTERNALIZE that negative opinion about yourself?

Can we all have a look behind "Door #2" instead?

Consult your Bible on 1Cor 1:18. Are you already saved (past tense)? Or are you being saved (present tense)? They are not all the same. Which one is the genuine word of God.

Some denominations believe strongly in this and some do not. What is your opinion? Can you back it up with scripture?

So I'm an Atheist. I think its all crap. Atheists get accused all the time of not knowing anything about a religion despite the fact that its not true and Atheists often know more about the Christian religion than the Christians do (and they are usually former Christians themselves).

But my whole family are Catholics so I know quite alot about it.

One thing that I've noticed on this site is that Protestants are lying about Catholics. Either the lies are born of misunderstanding and misinformation, or they're real lies.

Why do so many Protestants do this? If you don't understand something, why would you just rely on what your very very biased Protestant religious leader says, instead of actually researching a subject to find out the facts?

Why does this bother me? Because my family are Catholics and above all else, I hate lies. IMO, lying is the worst possible thing you can do.

Either debate with true information born from research, or don't even try, whatever you do, don't lie.

I read in an ambigously-reliable source that "the story of Jesus chiding those who would stone an adulteress (John 8:1-11) does not appear until about 300 years after the Gospel of John was written."

Anyone know how true this claim is?

When I went through "puberty," or whatever you want to call it several years ago, I had typical sexual attractions to the opposite sex. But within the past few years, I completely lost my interest in the opposte sex (or the same), and now I can't even have a boyfriend, because I don't want to make out or anything. I now think sexual activity is digusting and don't want any part of it. It kind of embarassing talking to my friends about it, b/c they just think I need to take a Viagra, or something, but I really wonder is I could be asexual.

Do any of you know much about asexuality, and do you think it's a legitimate sexual orientaion?

It's rather neurotic and puritanical. Don't most men and women enjoy looking at an attractive painted nude or statuette? In France, a woman can go on the beach and go topless. What's the morality issue? I mean, haven't they ever seen women breastfeeding or women naked?

Christians are often accused of being judgmental by speaking out against certain behaviors. In your opinion, what is the difference between healthy Christian concern and judgmentalism?
