If you say you don't know what made it happen, you're being honest with yourself or others.
If you say that God made it happen you're making excuses for your ignorance.

The difference is only an effective one to the speaker. If they believe that some god made something happen, then they are likely to live within a belief system and a theistically-based moral code, with all the effective differences - good and bad - that that makes to their lives. It could also have an effective difference if spoken with enough passion to a receptive audience, leading to conversion of non-combatants to the faith of the speaker. But the consequential difference is one of approach. If someone says "God made it happen", they have a solution and an explanation which is good enough for them, and therefore they do not need to look for or accept any more scientific solution. If they say "I do not know what made it happen", the innate curiosity of human beings drives them to look for possible solutions to the question.

Providence, quite simply. But I feel that while God can make anything exist at any moment at any time, he doesn't. God can use our world to further His glory, but damned if we know whats going on with that. It is purely speculative, but in my own life I know for sure it was God who "let" something happen sometimes, or sometimes it is just the natural conclusion to a situation, like i said, speculative

They both mean the same thing. The person who says the latter is the one being the most honest though...

Saying you don't know implies that you're open to logical suggestions. Saying that God did it means you're content with your ignorance.
Also, people who admit they don't know don't have any views to impose on others.

"god made it happen" is saying that you don't know what made it happen, and when such circumstances arise, that is the default position.
"I don't know what made it happen" is just saying what you mean.
