The measurements in Kings 7:23-26 show the mathematical Pi to be equal to 3.00, not 3.14159.

Shouldn't those who take the Bible literally and infallible be arguing that Maths is wrong in expressing Pi as 3.14159?

I suppose you could say that it doesn't effect us as much as the whole creation story but surely the fact that the Bible is incorrect ono this one account, why wouldn't it be wrong on others?

So as a Biblical literalist, should you believe that Pi = 3?

I just started watching Desperate Housewives, and I was wondering, is the character Andrew Van De Kamp gay?

I know it's not like a big deal or anything, but I've been watching the show like "Oh he definitley is. No wait... I guess he's not. No wait he has to be. Oh, I guess not" Anyone know?

Oh! While I have you Desperate Housewife fans here, I gotta ask, who is Mary Alice? Like, I know she's the narrator of the show, but is she an actual character to? Or just a disembodied voice.

WHY should I believe what another human being says, when Allah has given me the QURAN and told me that it is complete and that it is he who will preserve it. He, Allah, does not run out of words and he does not forget. When he says something he means it and when he does not say something he means it. Why should I trust that countless generations of people- humans like myself, who make mistakes like everyone, on the greatest issue of all, religion. WHY SHOULD YOU??

"You have NO duty EXCEPT delivering (Quran)" (42:48)

"Your ONLY duty is delivering (Quran), while we will call them to account." (13:40)

"The messenger has NO function EXCEPT delivering (Quran) and God knows whatever you declare, as well as whatever you conceal. Say, 'The good and the bad are not the same, despite the abundance of the bad.' Therefore, you shall observe God, O you who possess intelligence, that you may succeed." (5:99100)

was the pentagram (not inverted) once a symbol of christianity that got turned upside down as a way to mock, like an inverted cross? it's strange... my grandmother was a very very christian woman, but she used to have one hanging on her christmas tree every year. she passed 13 years ago, and i never really thought about why she would have that star on her tree until paganism started becoming more popular (or maybe just when i started noticing it more) and i started seeing the symbol anymore. if it was never a christian symbol, i can't imagine why my grandma would have something like that, unless she just thought it was pretty and she didn't know what it really was. lol.

God the Kid supposedly came to earth for a mere 33yrs, compared to the endless billions and billions of years in eternity it's nothing at all...even then he supposedly didn't die so where's the sacrifice, many good people died equally or much worse agonising deaths than Jesus.

I know people come here to discuss R&S but some people post messages saying the Bible is all that is needed. This confounds me because those people come here and preach the Bible. That act itself indicates they have other needs besides the Bible. In fact the Bible tells people not to judge and yet some people really feel compelled to 'save' others so it would seem they actually need more than the Bible. They need attention or affirmation?

Hey, I'm 14 Korean and born and raised in the US.

I know how to speak Korean enough to keep a conversation going formally (adults, ect), not much so casually (Whats up, how is blank, ect)

I can't read or write Korean anymore, but could when I was a child.

Recently I noticed how important keeping in touch with heritage is, so I'm asking:

What is a good way to learn Korean and how to read + write it? My mother goes to work or is away all day, and my brother knows about as much Korean as I do. My father passed away, and I know nobody willing to teach me due to their schedule.

Thanks, I would be so happy if I could say I'm FLUENT in Korean rather than "I know some".

Matt. 26:39, RS: “Going a little farther he [Jesus Christ] fell on his face and prayed, ‘My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.’” (If the Father and the Son were not distinct individuals, such a prayer would have been meaningless. Jesus would have been praying to himself, and his will would of necessity have been the Father’s will.) John 8:17, 18, RS: “[Jesus answered the Jewish Pharisees:] In your law it is written that the testimony of two men is true; I bear witness to myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness to me.” (So, Jesus definitely spoke of himself as being an individual separate and distinct from the Father.) See also pages 197, 198, under “Jehovah.”

The people only wanted to be famous, and not be scattered. Why be famous? Imo, they want all the people know it, and be united. In verse 4, it says "...reaches the heavens..." I don't think that it meant 'heaven' wherein God lives, as they've taught me, I believe they meant the skies, or height.

Gen. 11: 6-7
The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

Why would God, a superior being, do that?
Why doesn't He want people be united?
Can't we speak in one tongue?

what He considers to be haram? He details everything that He forbids and goes on to tell us that the Quran is complete and nothing is left out of it...and yet muslims are so quick to say.."oh thats haram" when they in fact have no basis for that accusation. Please dont say that the prophet made it haram as the prophet was rebuked by God for forbidding something that God himself didnt forbid....

the list of what God considers haram is quite short..haram meaning absolutely forbidden...and yet the list that muslims have of whats haram could fill a library....making life very dull indeed for those that choose to follow that "everything is haram" mentality. I know some of you will say that God gives the basics and the prophet and scholars fill in the details....but that still begs the question on how they can make something haram that God himself did not? I really want to know your opinions on this...thanks.

Matt. 12:31, 32, RS: “Every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. And whoever says a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.” (If the Holy Spirit were a person and were God, this text would flatly contradict the Trinity doctrine, because it would mean that in some way the Holy Spirit was greater than the Son. Instead, what Jesus said shows that the Father, to whom the “Spirit” belonged, is greater than Jesus, the Son of man.)
John 14:28, RS: “[Jesus said:] If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I.”
