Is it bad karma to cut down a fig tree?

Let me reword this: I have a fig tree that is constantly growing and pushing up my shed's roof. I do not eat the figs, it does not produce shade, it is just a nuisance. Is it against religious beliefs to cut it down? Like some believe not to eat split hooved animals..

Every living thing has Karma,it can be a real hard thing to measure at times especially when something becomes a nuisance,Plants have a high energy level even when you pull out a carrot in the garden the soil from which it came will still hold the plants karmic energy, and as plants are the lowest of all in vibration as far as life goes on this planet ,I would think that you would get away with cutting this tree down relatively unscathed without any consequence. love and light

Expansionist fig tree? They're the worst - usually give a shed-load of trouble.

In Buddhism , harming a living plant is bad. Monks are required to confess for it.

Besides , if the tree belongs to someone else , it amounts to stealing also.

only if it doesn't belong to you.

edit since it belongs to you, and you don't eat the fruit by all means cut it down. i would plant a different type of tree a little farther from your shed to replace it. (but that's just me and not really necessary.)

to harm a living being for fun is not acceptable, unless it is for a valid & logical reason.
