I think the language doesn't matter, most people don't really think at all, so your a step up already. I am from the United States but have lived in several countries, Puerto Rico was one, where I used Spanish (ok, maybe Spanglish but you know what I mean) all the time. Now that I live in Taiwan and am learning Chinese I find myself thinking in Spanish. It has become my default, non-English language. When some one asks me a question I find my self saying 'si' instead of 'yao'. The linguistic mind is a strange beast.

I think it is only to be expected under your circumstances. You moved to the US when you were about 12, so there are lots of things and feelings that you didn't experience back in Brazil. Fourteen years surrounded by English speakers is almost enough to let you forget your native tongue. Only joking; but I bet you find it hard to talk about 'adult' things in Portuguese.

I think it's great. I wish I were fluent enough in a foreign language to actually start thinking in that language. It opens up for you an entirely different consciousness.

Portuguese may be too constrictive for what you want to express.

You think in your everyday language. Its not a right or wrong issue. Its a perception issue. Its alright. It does not mean you have lost your origin.
