They were extremely religious and would probably shun themselves from you and you from the entire family....and plenty of other things....

Yes, but I know that a lot of people wouldn't, and I know that it wouldn't necessarily be a good idea.

You'd definitely have to consider all the possible outcomes and consequences that will occur from doing something like that... ie. will you get kicked out as well as shunned? Things like that.

I'd still come out to them, but that's just me.

that is something to really think about. first of all consider your age if you are not an adult then it is a problem. but if you are of age then it dont matter, it matters but you have to let them know that this is a decision that you made for yourself and if they love you they would understand but with them being so "religious" it may be a hard pill for them to swallow but that dont mean for them to shun from you. but you know how society is, people are entitled to their own opinions but what ever makes you happy is your choice.

That's always a big worry when anyone comes out. Most families, even if they never fully understand, will eventually accept and continue to love you. Of course, some do that more quickly than others.

Perhaps the question for you is this: Do you want to spend your life having them love the person they think you are, or loving the person that you really are?

You know, I'm not gay. But whenever I date a woman whose not African American, telling my parents feels a lot like I'm coming out of the closet.
Once an girlfriend suggested I tell my parents that I'm gay. When they're done freaking out, I was supposed to laugh and say, "Psyche, she's a white woman."

I almost did that once and then I could picture the ambulances in my head.

I honestly don't think it's anyones business.

Do heterosexuals have to be like,
"mom, day, I'm straight"

No.

Why..because it's not their parents business.

why do they have to treat homosexuality like a disease?

Why not be like any other orientation and
just be kept to themselves.

Honestly, I dont know why people care what men and women do behind closed doors.

who are the perverts now?

Oh yes. I'd put a big sign on the lawn telling them and the neighbors that they produced a a homosexual son. Then I would send out announcements with family secrets .... monthly!

I would picket their house and contact news agencies.

That's just the start.

Trust me, they'll figure it out sooner or later, and it'd be best to tell them sooner, so they don't feel like you've been lieing to them for as long as they could remember.

Only if you are living on your own and are supporting yourself financially. If that's not the case, wait. You wouldn't want to risk being kicked out of your house or anything similar.
