I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) and I'm just wonder first: What's your general opinion of mormons and second: has getting to know MItt Romney and/or Harry Reid changed your opinion of mormons? I understand i'll probably get some hate comments but could you please keep the swearing down to a minimum? haha thanks!

I think it's an appaling joke that England has a Queen as their Governing ruler, all this has done is further erode the gender roles that once were the very fabric of society. The sooner they wake up to this fact the better, we could all do with women returing to their traditional roles and staying out of site, in the the kitchen and bedroom ! Really you must admit they are cunning and treacherous, they are basically power seekers !

Many Jews here quote verses from the Book of Isaiah to argue that Jesus is not the messiah and they show that Jesus did not fulfill all the requirements of the prophecised Messiah.
Without just saying Jesus fulfilled 300 prophecies and such, state some verses from the old testament which clearly indicate Jesus was the foretold Messiah. No ambiguity.

As can be shown by my previous questions and answers, I'm marrying an Egyptian Muslim, and have been going to great effort to learn about Islam in order to understand how it meshes with my own Roman Catholic upbringing.

I'm a lifelong Catholic, I practice, have been to Rome and Fatima. I say the rosary, take eucharist, and really try to do things right. I'm a Vatican II Catholic, and have been having some issues with Benedict's changes to the progress John Paul II had made. There are some decisions of the Catholic Church that I have difficulty accepting (Double Effect for example), but on the whole have been pretty content.

So I started reading the Qu'ran. I'm on my second read-through now (The Meaning of the Holy Qu'ran - Abdullah Yusuf Ali's translation with commentary). And now my faith is all tangled up. I can't honestly tell you that Mohammed wasn't a prophet, that the Qu'ran shouldn't be serving as a sacred text.

this applies to all religions:

1. the big three religions believe that God is incomparable, absolute, incomprehensible. if that is the case, how can he get angry, be satisfied, be benevolent? those are human qualities. then, he is comparable to humans, only significantly better. but certainly not absolute.
2. if his stature is so great, why does he demand we worship him or we go to hell? is he insecure about his stature?
3. where is the proof that he is truly a benevolent being? the hurricanes, the senseless destruction, killing in his name, why can't you just admit that if he exists, he may not necessarily be a nice entity?
4. why is it that every tragedy is labeled as a "test of faith" by you? why can't it be a sign that god is a big jerk? i mean, you do believe in signs that show him as a nice entity. why not the other way?
5. why do you believe your life is better than those who aren't religious? is it because, as a person of "faith", you never fail and aren't unhappy?

Get a pit bull. Yesterday a couple religious folk (I didn't get a chance to figure out what group they were from) came a-knocking on my door and I was quite excited to have a discussion with them. But they took one look at my pit bull through the screen door and said they'd come back at another time.

I was a bit surprised at how easily discouraged they were. I was open and friendly and ready to hear what they had to say, but one look at my dog (who was wagging his tale, not barking or growling) and they couldn't get off my doorstep fast enough.

Aren't these people supposed to be tenacious? I mean, if you’re trying to save my soul you gotta work for it. Have you ever had an experience where an evangelist was scared off a little too easily?

And it seems they weren't originally intended as "epistles" or "open letters" either. They were intended as letters to specific people or groups to reign in desent.

Computer analysis of them shows that 8 of them were written in such a different manner that they would have come from different authors.

Dosn't this lack of credibility to the authorship undermine much of what christians believe in?

((Earth created before stars, plants created before the Sun))

I've heard the Old Testament Creation story defended by saying that "A day to God could be a million years to us."

Is the order of creation an additional issue? Or is it solved by saying "Time is relative"?

Most believers of Christianity and Islam believe in the Age of Christ that is yet to come, the "Second Coming," or "Parousia" as it is referred to in Biblical terms. The date and time of this event is said to be unknown.

In no uncertain terms, the world we live in is fraught with obstacles to understanding and believing in the Second Coming when (or if) it happens in our era. In lieu of other doctrine, including the idea of “false prophets,” and “the antichrist,” will we know when Christ returns to earth?

Other than the signs declared in the Bible (given up to interpretation of literal vs. allegorical texts), how will you know of Christ's return to earth? What signs will make this evident to you, and will you believe? Why or why not?

Science has determined that dolphins, other than humans, are the only animals who have sex solely for the purpose of pleasure. Following extensive research, I have determined that not one of these dolphins has had sex within holy matrimony. There is yet to be one dolphin marriage on the books, anywhere, in any state.

Not one.

One could also conclude that some dolphins engage in homosexuality. Certainly, these dolphins that *chose* to engage in celebrations of The Gay will not be spared God's wrath.

I prefer not to think about the perverse fetishes that dolphins engage in during their leisure time, no doubt to include videotape, leather, and plankton.

Do dolphins go straight to hell when they die?

Christians: you are all baby-eating evil doers who will burn in hell for all eternity!

Atheists: you are all mindless sheep incapable of a single intelligent thought who only believe what you've been told!

I'd say it's pretty even.
